Burger King has ‘finally’ caved in to ‘15 years of fan demand’ by resurrecting a cult menu item in the United States - but it’s not expected to stick around for long.

Customers have already been treated to a smorgasbord of collaborations and fun food released at Burger King this year, what with the Star Wars menu, featuring colour-changing cups and the BBQ Bounty Whopper launching alongside the ‘tastiest ever burger’, and a breakfast item which landed exclusively in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Portland, Oregon.

Alongside making a slew of changes to its classic Whopper for the first time in almost a decade, the fast-food titan has now brought back a fan-favourite product ahead of summer.

Originally discontinued in 2011, Burger King teased its return last Halloween when it introduced ‘Vampie Nuggets’ - crispy chicken nuggets shaped like vampire fangs and bats.

The crunchy bites were served in a coffin-shaped carton, prompting customers to reminisce about another chicken nugget.

“Omg omg the vampire nuggets are taking me back to when BK used to have the crown nuggets," one fan pointed out on Instagram.

Someone else echoed: "The crown shaped BK nuggets were the best, I’m hoping these can compare."

A third said: "Vampire nuggies are giving me flashbacks to crown nuggets which is a great thing."

Finally, Burger King has answered fans’ pleas, adding the Crown Nuggets to its new US summer menu.

Fast-food guests can now purchase an eight-piece order for $3.49 or grab a handful as part of the King Jr. Meal, which is served with a side and a drink.

Speaking about the return, Joel Yashinsky, Burger King’s Chief Marketing Officer, said: “We’ve been committed to creating awesome experiences for the whole family and listening to our Guests, and bringing back our Crown Nuggets allows us to do both of those things.”

Social media has been debating the news, with one X user saying:”Burger King finally answers 15 years of fan demand.”

“Just found out that Burger King is bringing back the Crown Shaped Chicken Nuggets… chills,” a second said.

Another replied: “The Crown Shaped nuggets are back!!!! Yay!!!”

Unfortunately, the Crown Nuggets aren't available as a permanent menu item and are only on the market until supplie last, according to the grab and go chain.

However, it’s good news for those who love biting into nostaglia as Yashinsky confirmed the brand is ‘committed to bringing more fun and interaction to mealtime for guests of all ages’.

Redditors have recently been discussing which other blast-from-the-past items they would like to see back on the BK menu.

One typed that the ‘biggest casualty’ was the decision to take away the family of BK Stacker sandwiches, while another said they want ‘the Angry Whopper’ to return.

The latter was a spicy version of the Whopper, featuring a flame-grilled beef patty, melted cheese, bacon, pickled jalapeños, crispy ‘angry’ onions, and a signature spicy ‘angry’ sauce.

“Bring back the Cowboy Burger,” someone else said, while another requested the chain add the Sourdough Breakfast Sausage King to its menu one more time.

The Burger King Crown Chicken Nuggets are available now, following the official return on 2 June.
