McDonald’s has quietly launched a brand new main menu item—but only select super fans in one territory can get their mitts on it for now.
The World Heist 2.0 is still chugging on at the fast-food giant, with the likes of China’s Chicken McWings and Peach x Sprite Zero from Singapore joining the pack in stores across the UK today (20 October).
The McExtreme has also come over from Spain, while McDonald’s Britain has lent the Twix White Salted Caramel McFlurry from a limited time from Germany.
But the quartet aren’t the only new products to grace the brand’s menu this month.
Hand-breaded chicken launching at McDonald’s
Anyone who lives in a particular place can now take advantage of a new McDonald’s pilot scheme, testing out hand-breaded chicken, as reported by Metro.

Certain customers will be able to pick up the iconic Snack Wrap, Tikka, Sweet Chilli, and BBQ wraps, salads, McCrispy strips, and McCrispy burger in hand-breaded versions, the publication said.
It’s confirmed that the test is a ‘tangible demonstration of food prepared with care’ and that the result will ‘deliver crunch, texture, and juiciness’.
McDonald’s apparently sees chicken as a ‘significant growth opportunity’ for the business, having made a selection of McCrispy’s permanent menu additions earlier this year.
Excitingly, anyone who lives or travels to Dublin between mid-October and February will be able to crunch into some hand-breaded chicken favourites.
“This is about much more than introducing a new way of preparing chicken,” said Tim Kenward, McDonald’s UK and Ireland’s chief marketing officer.
“We’re piloting how our restaurants can consistently deliver the taste, quality and visible care that customers increasingly expect, without adding unnecessary complexity for our teams.”

He added that Ireland’s ‘strength in chicken’ makes it the ‘ideal market’ to help inform the company ‘what it takes to deliver this at scale’.
Dublin McDonald’s selling hand-breaded chicken
Metro has reported that McDonald’s on Belgard Road in Tallaght and O’Connell Street, O’Connell Bridge, are two of the first two places in Dublin where hand-breaded chicken can be purchased.
From today, restaurants in Tallaght Town Centre, The Mill Shopping Centre, Clondalkin, and Blanchards Town Centre will also start serving the protein.
November 3 is when Petit’s Supermarket Arklow and an eatery on Naas Road, Cranley Car Site, will have the item.
Hand-breaded chicken will be available to purchase from the McDonald’s at Citywest Shopping Centre and Upper O’Connell Street from 10 November.

Grilled chicken cancelled by McDonald’s
The new addition comes just months after the business officially removed grilled chicken from its menu.
The quiet axe was accompanied by the following statement: "As part of our continued menu evolution, we regularly listen to customer feedback and review sales data, and as a result, we've made the decision to remove Grilled Chicken from the menu.
“This change will help simplify our kitchen processes and allow our restaurant teams to focus on delivering great experiences for customers."
They added: "We understand this may be disappointing for some, but every menu decision is carefully considered, and we look forward to sharing more about our upcoming menu launches in the coming weeks."
