Burger King has launched rival to McDonald's Monopoly

Fast food fans might want to check their cups a little closer

Fast food fans are no strangers to a good gimmick. Over the years, big-name chains have learned that dangling the promise of freebies, upgrades, and the occasional life-changing win is a pretty reliable way to keep customers coming back for more.

Whether it’s peel-off stickers, limited-time menus, or app-exclusive drops, the UK’s biggest brands are constantly battling for attention and loyalty.

McDonald’s has especially made a habit of turning a simple meal into an event. Its Monopoly promotion has become something of an annual ritual, with customers scrutinising every cup and fries box in the hope of landing anything from a free burger to a serious cash prize. It’s big, familiar, and wildly popular, to the point where its return is practically marked in calendars.

That legacy makes what Burger King has just done feel very deliberate.

Like most of us, the fellow fast food chain has long taken notice, but now it’s finally ready to take Monopoly on. Rather than reinventing the wheel, the chain has aimed straight at its golden-arched rival with a brand-new game that mirrors the same prize-hunting energy, while adding a digital twist.

Recently, Burger King announced its official launch of Slurp-Prize: a nationwide promotion built around cold drinks and app-based gameplay, positioning itself as a direct alternative to McDonald’s Monopoly.

The idea is simple, with customers who buy a regular or large cold drink in participating restaurants finding a peel-off label on the cup. Underneath sits a QR code or unique entry code, which can be scanned or entered into the Burger King UK app.

From there, players spin a virtual wheel to reveal whether they’ve won.

There’s plenty on the line, too. Burger King says there are more than one million prizes available, with the total prize pool valued at £1.25 million, as noted by Metro.

The headline reward is a £25,000 cash prize, but that’s just the top of the pile. Other giveaways include tech bundles from Nintendo and Sony, Loveholidays vouchers, family day-out passes, Just Eat credit, and a long list of food prizes ranging from free Whoppers to fries and drinks.
