An employee at Domino's has shared why you should always place your order online rather than phoning up.

In the age of JustEat, Deliveroo, and UberEats, calling up the local takeaway to place an order over the phone has almost become a thing of the past.

After all, who wants the inconvenience of having to actually speak to another human being when you can just hit buttons on a screen and then 40 minutes later someone arrives with your dinner?

But it turns out that customers are not the only people who think that ordering over the internet rather than by phone is the better way of going about things.

Human connection and community is one thing, but let's face it, when you get back in from work and you're tired, or return from the pub and you're a little worse for wear, then simply being able to punch in what you want has a lot of appeal.

But what about with Domino's?

The hugely popular pizza franchise is large enough to not need to rely on third party apps for online ordering, and has an app all of its own.

And one former employee shared the very clear reason why they always preferred it when customers ordered online rather than by phone.

Taking to a Reddit thread asking Domino's employees to spill the beans on secrets and tips, they wrote bluntly: “Always order online."

Explaining, they said: "If for some reason you need to call your order in, know what you want in advance so that your phone call can last less than a minute or two.

"Nothing's worse than having five lines on hold, food nearly falling out of the oven and ten people in the lobby waiting for their food and I can't do anything about it because I have to listen to someone's crotch goblin screaming and crying over speaker phone while they ask each of their fifteen family members what they want to order.”

Anyone who has worked in hospitality knows that things can get very busy and very hectic very quickly, so while customer service is hugely important having someone taking a long time on a phone call to order because they didn't figure out what they wanted first can throw a spanner in the works.

Meanwhile, if you place your order online then that's it - it just comes through and you can get it cooked and sent out.
