Popeyes has answered the prayers of fast-food fans by bringing back a much-loved side dish that disappeared from most of its restaurants more than a decade ago.
The fried chicken chain has officially welcomed its Cajun Onion Rings back to menus across the US, giving customers another chance to get their hands on a snack many thought was gone for good.
At just $3.99, the comeback is already causing a stir among those who have spent years calling for its return.
The onion rings, which have been part of Popeyes' history since at least the 1980s, gradually vanished from American restaurants during the 2010s.

Although a handful of locations continued serving them until 2020, most customers haven't been able to order the popular side for well over a decade.

Now, following years of requests and plenty of social media campaigning, Popeyes has finally brought them back.
But there's a catch. The returning favourite is only available for a limited time, meaning fans might want to get their orders in sooner rather than later.
What's different about the returning onion rings?
The new Cajun Onion Rings feature thick slices of onion coated in a crunchy, beer-batter-style coating, finished with the chain's signature Cajun seasoning.
That extra hit of spice sets them apart from traditional fast-food onion rings, delivering the Louisiana-inspired flavour Popeyes has become famous for.
Similar versions have previously appeared on menus in Canada and the United Arab Emirates, but the American release comes with its own distinctive Cajun kick.
The rings are designed for sharing, although anyone who's been waiting more than ten years for their return might have other ideas.
They can be ordered alongside Popeyes' chicken sandwiches, wraps and wings, or paired with the chain's latest money-saving offer.
The restaurant has also introduced a limited-time deal offering six pieces of its signature bone-in chicken for $10.
It's a combination that could prove tempting for customers looking to revisit an old favourite without spending a fortune.

Fans have been begging for their return
The excitement surrounding the comeback isn't particularly surprising.
Popeyes customers have been discussing the missing onion rings on Reddit and other social media platforms for years, with some even suggesting petitions to persuade the chain to bring them back.
One Reddit user previously declared: "The original Popeyes onion rings were a reason to go to Popeyes."
Another went even further, writing: "They were the best fast food onion rings."
And following news of their return, one delighted Instagram user commented: "OMGGG I used to eat these I thought they'd never come back."
The chain had reportedly been testing the returning side at selected American restaurants over the summer before deciding to roll it out more widely.
Early reactions suggest the decision could pay off.
For those who prefer something milder, dipping the rings into ranch dressing or ketchup could help take the edge off.
The comeback arrives as Popeyes looks to strengthen its position in America's fiercely competitive fried chicken market.
However, there's currently no confirmation that the Cajun Onion Rings will become a permanent fixture, or whether they'll make their way to Popeyes restaurants in the UK.
For now, American customers can pick up the returning side for $3.99 at participating locations.
After more than a decade of waiting, fans finally have their onion rings back. The only question is how long they'll stick around.
