The start of the festive Christmas season always brings an inevitable shift: supermarket shelves begin to fill with spiced specials, shoppers gravitate towards warming treats, and attention turns to which seasonal product will dominate gatherings and social feeds alike.
This year, one particular returning item is already generating significant anticipation, long before many people have even taken their decorations out of storage.
Across Instagram, customers at M&S have been quick to express their enthusiasm. Comments range from ‘Oh I need to try’ and ‘This is a need and must for Christmas’ to nostalgic responses such as ‘Omg I used to love this!! Still remember the taste so well’.

Others conveyed a sense of urgency and excitement, with one user writing: “I best get my butt down M&S this week, these sound a beaut."
One particularly emphatic reaction simply read: "Oh good lord. This is a game changer."
Another added what many of us might be thinking, whilst tagging their friend: “One for our xmas brunch, if [I’ve] recovered enough lol."
The reason for the renewed interest is the return of a product many thought they would not see again: M&S has officially brought back its rosé mulled wine after a decade-long absence.

First launched more than 10 years ago, the rosé twist on the traditional festive drink has returned with the same flavour profile that made it memorable.
In its social media announcement, M&S describes it as featuring ‘notes of orange, vanilla and traditional mulling spices’, offering a lighter, more refreshing alternative to classic red mulled wine.
As reported by The Standard, the retailer has positioned it as a must-buy, saying: "Rosé isn't just for summer. Our new rosé mulled wine is a high street first…set to be this season’s viral must-try. Warm up a bottle at your next get-together to get everyone talking."

The serving suggestions are straightforward: gently warm in a pan and finish with a slice of orange and a cinnamon stick.

According to M&S, the drink pairs well with turkey and cranberry sauce, charcuterie, mince pies and fruity desserts, making it suitable for a wide range of festive occasions.
The rosé variant is returning alongside a broader seasonal drinks selection. New for this year, for instance, is Maple Mulled Wine, described as ‘a rich and fruity red with smoky caramel notes and a splash of brandy’.

Also back is last year’s popular White Mulled Wine, which features pear, vanilla and mulled spice flavours, as well as the traditional Red Mulled Wine.
