Kai Trump’s vlog documenting her luxury Los Angeles supermarket trip with Secret Service agents has been lambasted online, with critics calling it ‘cringe’ and ‘tone deaf’.
On Sunday (8 March), the 18-year-old, whose grandfather is US President Donald Trump, uploaded a YouTube vlog titled ‘I Bought My Secret Service to Erewhon’.
In the clip, which has been viewed more than 303,000 times, Kai said: “If you guys don’t know Erewhon is the most expensive grocery store pretty much out there.
“Everything’s crazy expensive so we’re going to get my favourite stuff, even some supplements wherever it may be then we’re going to go home and try it out.”

Secret Service agents accompanied her as she purchased the viral Hailey Bieber Erewhon smoothie for $21, a jar of dates, a vitamin C pouch that retails for more than $70, a sushi platter, and snacks.
“One thing about me is that I don’t spend a lot of money,” she claimed, spending $233 at the checkout.

She alleged that she would quickly become ‘bankrupt’ if she shopped at the LA institution daily.
After exiting the store, Kai was picked up by a motorcade, including three motorcycles and four SUVs.
“They really laid out the red carpet for you,” the cameraman claimed.
“I keep looking for my phone and you have it,” she quipped.
Following the shopping trip, Kai headed to a hotel room where she tried out the sushi she picked up.
"I love sushi. That is the worst tuna I've ever tasted in my entire life," Kai said, spitting out the food. "It was fishy and, like, hard. I'm gonna throw up."
She also tried some rice balls and vegan buffalo cauliflower, as well as short ribs.
"It's good," she said. "Is this worth $37? No. I could probably make this all at home for…under $10."

Kai’s vlog has raised the hackles of some social media users, with many alleging it was a ‘cringe’ upload.
Others have called the clip ‘tone deaf’, presumably referring to rising gas and grocery prices in the United States amid the war with Iran.
“Title might be the most tone deaf thing I've ever read. Like legit lmao,” one YouTuber said.
Another commented: “I literally had to put back a pack of tuna at Costco today, my bill was 198.05 and I didn’t have enough money.”

“Not a good look to shop at quote ‘the most expensive grocery store’ when regular Americans are struggling. They rub it in our faces,” a third remarked.
However, fans of the influencer have come out in droves to defend her upload.
One claimed: “All the people commenting negatively are ridiculous.”
“I love how honest you are about how bad it is. Most other influencers just jump on the bandwagon,” someone else wrote.
Another has offered her some advice for the future: “My rule of thumb...NEVER EVER buy any Sushi from a grocery store period! I don't care how ‘high-end’ of a grocery store they claim to be, don't do it!!!”
