Fast-food portions have long been a point of debate, but one hungry Burger King customer has sparked a wave of online disbelief after sharing the size of the breakfast burrito they received.

In a post uploaded to Reddit’s r/shrinkflation community, the diner revealed that they’d been craving something simple that morning and turned to the chain’s app to order a junior breakfast burrito.

After unwrapping it, they were stunned to discover what appeared to be a single-bite wrap barely stretching across the palm of their hand.

The photo, which shows the burrito looking more like an appetiser than a morning meal, instantly set commenters off.

While shrinkflation complaints appear across the internet daily, this one in particular seems to have hit a nerve with fast food fans who couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

Once the image began circulating, users flooded the thread with jokes, comparisons and plenty of frustration about portion sizes these days.

Some claimed it resembled an egg roll, others a toddler’s snack, while a few questioned how it could ever pass for a burrito at all.

Among the many reactions, one comment summarised how a lot of us would feel, also asking: “That’s pathetic! How much did you pay?!”

The customer replied that the tiny meal had cost ‘$2.73’, prompting more disbelief. That same user responded: “Still a ripoff!”, while another pointed out ‘no kid over [the age of] 6 would be satisfied from that’.

What’s more, the situation escalated further when a small debate broke out over whether the diner should have expected the portion size, given that the order was for a junior burrito.

One user questioned: “You're shocked the burrito Jr was junior sized? Maybe next time spring for the eggnormous burrito”.

The original poster pushed back, noting out that on the McDonald’s app: “I can order ANY breakfast sandwich for $2.00," adding that it wasn’t unreasonable to expect ‘something for a decent value that isn’t a size for infants’.

Others were less forgiving of Burger King, declaring the miniature wrap an example of exactly why they no longer visit the chain. One person wrote: “This is egregious… sorry bro, but you got fleeced by the King."

While some defended the low price point, most agreed the portion was shockingly small, with one commenter summing up what many were also thinking after seeing the shocking photo: “One bite burrito. Ridiculous."
