Nutella has finally answered sweet treat prayers with the launch of its new freezer aisle products, described as ‘10/10’ desserts and diet plan ‘dangers’.

Last week (13 May), the beloved chocolate-hazelnut spread brand announced that Nutella Ice Cream, which comes in 14-ounce containers and 3.04-ounce single-serve wafer cone form, would be making freezer-aisle debuts in the United States.

The large tubs, priced from $4.36 in stores, are designed to offer Nutella fans a ‘rich, multi-textured’ delight in a ‘spoonable format’.

Meanwhile, the cones are engineered for ‘spontaneous moments on the go’.

The latter comes in packs of four with a retail starting price of $5.47.

However, some eagle-eyed social media users have found the Nutella Ice Cream cones in mega 10-pack boxes.

The launch has seemingly already been well received, with one firm fan taking to X to write: “Nutella coming out with that ice cream was very dangerous.”

A second replied: “Okay but nutella ice cream is sooo gooddd.”

A third X user shared an image of the cones with three fire emojis, calling them a ‘10/10’ product, while a fourth added: “Trying to ‘lock in for the summer’ and then my mom brings Nutella ice cream home.”

Nutella Peanut landed in US stores last month

The doublet follows hot on the heels of Ferrero launching the first new Nutella flavour in more than six decades.

The product, known simply as Nutella Peanut, was formulated to deliver the ‘same creamy experience fans know and love’ blended with the ‘irresistible taste of roasted peanuts’.

“Our fans have been asking for this for years. We heard them, and afternoon snack time will never be the same, said Noah Szporn, Senior Vice President of Spreads, Ferrero North America.

"Nutella Peanut was developed specifically for this market: It brings together a new taste experience that blends the unmistakable creaminess of Nutella with the delicious taste of roasted peanuts.”

New York hosted an exclusive celebration event last weekend at 372 Lafayette Street, where fans of the brand would win games and win Nutella Peanut-themed prizes.

More new sweet treat launches

If you prefer your sweet treat in drink form rather than in a spread or an ice cream cone, then Starbucks’ new May menucould be more your style.

Sippers can choose between the Tropical Butterfly Refresher, featuring passionfruit and sweet, creamy guava flavours, butterfly pea flower, and mango-pineapple flavoured pearls.

There’s also a Mexican-style Horchata Shaken Espresso or blended Frappuccino made with Starbucks Blonde Espresso, horchata syrup, and oat drink to choose from.

A Unicorn Cake Pop, made with creamy vanilla cake mixed with confetti sprinkles, is also available to purchase.

McDonald’s has also recently shared its line-up of dirty sodas, including a vanilla-enriched ‘Dirty Dr Pepper’ with a cloud of cold foam, and a Sprite Berry Blast with blue raspberry syrup.

Three refreshers in strawberry and watermelon, mango pineapple, and blackberry passion fruit have also been launched.

“Our fans have an obsession with beverages — to them, drinks are more than just drinks. And soon, our beverages won't just be a reason you come to McDonald's, they'll be the reason," Alyssa Buetikofer, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer, McDonald's USA, said in a statement.

"We've taken the time to get this right, introducing new drinks that are hand-crafted with bold flavours and quality ingredients, our fans can taste in every sip.”

Over in the UK, Pepsi has unveiled three new ice cream-inspired flavours amid its Zero Sugar range expansion.

Raspberry Ripple, Cherry & Vanilla and Salted Caramel cans are set to roll out across the nation in the coming months.

“Natalia Filippociants, PepsiCo general manager for international beverages in Europe, said: “Pepsi continues to innovate and bring unique flavours, as well as zero sugar offerings to retailers’ shelves.”

“These new ice cream-inspired flavours have been crafted with a younger generation in mind, designed to be a fun, zero-sugar summer treat that’s a little unexpected – but in the best way.”

Meanwhile, American bakery chain Cinnabon has quietly re-launched with pre-packaged doughnuts and muffins in Co-op and Asda stores.
