A new McDonald’s era is pending, with the fast-food juggernaut set to rival retailers across the United States with its new speciality drinks selection.
If you’ve ever watched an episode of Hulu’s Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, then you’re probably already well-acquainted with the viral Dirty Soda trend.
The beloved, non-alcoholic beverage consists of fizzy soda spiked with flavoured syrups, creamers, and sometimes fruit purées and fresh citrus fruits, including lime, lemon, and oranges.
As of 6 May, McDonald’s is putting its own spin on the trend, delivering six speciality drinks, including three new refreshers and a trio of crafted sodas.

“Our fans have an obsession with beverages — to them, drinks are more than just drinks. And soon, our beverages won't just be a reason you come to McDonald's, they'll be the reason," Alyssa Buetikofer, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer, McDonald's USA, said in a statement.

"We've taken the time to get this right, introducing new drinks that are hand-crafted with bold flavours and quality ingredients our fans can taste in every sip.”
McDonald’s new crafted sodas
The first thirst-quencher to arrive at McDonald's is a Dirty Dr Pepper.
The spicy, fruity flavour of the classic beverage is enriched with vanilla and topped with the same cloud of cold foam as the Orange Dream, a twist on the fan-favourite Hi‑C Orange Lavaburst.

Like the Dirty Dr Pepper, the Orange Dream is infused with a hint of vanilla to create a ‘smooth, dreamy citrus sip’, as per a McDonald’s press release.
Sprite Berry Blast is the third and final crafted soda to make its debut.
The latter pairs crisp, ice-cold Sprite with a sweet blue raspberry syrup and a creamy cold foam top.
Dirty Dr Pepper, Orange Dream, and Sprite Berry Blast roll out across the nation from 6 May.

McDonald’s adds three new refresher flavours
Joining the three crafted sodas is a trifecta of refreshers, designed for summer park hangs, sun-kissed evenings, and everything between.
The Strawberry Watermelon Refresher features a sweet lemonade base, freeze-dried strawberries and strawberry and juicy watermelon flavours.

Joining the line-up is the Mango Pineapple Refresher, mixing the fruit flavours with a lemonade base, finished with strawberry popping boba.
The new Blackberry Passion Fruit Refresher completes the trio, pairing a lemonade base with strong blackberry and passion fruit flavours and freeze‑dried dragon fruit.
Like the crafted sodas, the McDonald’s refreshers are available to pick up on 6 May.

Accessory collaboration with Susan Alexandra
The six new drinks come amid a limited-time collaboration with fashion designer Susan Alexandra.
Six beaded drink carriers modelled after the McDonald’s refreshers and craft sodas are available to purchase while stocks last.
Each one comes with a $10 McDonald’s Arch Card, which can be used to redeem a drink in-store.
