While the Big Arch carves out its own mainstay status, it’s clear McDonald’s is prepared to shake up its menu with longstanding new faces when its trial runs go well.
McDonald’s is always coming up with tantalising new ways to lure you under the golden arches, and if the Snack Wrap’s return wasn’t enough then maybe an exciting new sauce will do the trick.

From 3 September 2025, McDonald’s is rolling out a brand new Special Edition Gold Sauce to its US restaurants.
It’s a blend of its famous barbecue dip and mustard, offering a smoky, tangy flavour profile that will pair nicely with just about all of the savoury menu options.
Along with the Gold Sauce, a limited edition menu of special delights is hitting McDonald’s menus.

The Bacon Special Edition Gold McCrispy Sandwich – try saying that as fast as you can – will enter the arena with McCrispy Chicken layered with applewood-smoked bacon and pickle chips. If you’re after something with more heft, the Deluxe version comes with all of the above plus some shredded lettuce and tomatoes.
There’s also the Special Edition Gold Snack Wrap. Honestly, you wait for a Snack Wrap-shaped bus and two show up at once!
The fan-favourite Snack Wrap gets a limited edition upgrade with McCrispy Strips, lettuce and shredded cheese alongside a generous coating of the new Special Edition Gold Sauce.
All of these exciting new options will only be available while stocks last, and perhaps they’ll prove popular enough for McDonald’s to consider bringing them in long-term.
“McDonald’s is continuing to innovate new, flavorful ways for fans to enjoy our chicken offerings — and our Special Edition Gold Sauce is no exception,” said Gina Hardy, vice president of U.S. marketing and menu strategy at McDonald's, in a press statement.

“The new Gold Sauce pairs perfectly with our fan-favorite chicken menu items, giving customers more of what they crave, with a delicious twist.”
Social media users are already salivating over the incoming options.
“Sounds good. I love mustardy vinegary stuff,” said one Reddit comment.
“It’s literally gold fever sauce, its pretty good if done right,” said another.
Over on Instagram, one user proclaimed: “I am excited!!! Let’s go!!!!
Some even claim to have accidentally jumped the gun: “I just got this sauce in my meal, guess I’m lucky!” Sadly this user didn’t report back on their taste test, but we’re bound to see plenty of online reviews soon.
