Ronald giveth and he taketh away, and we’re sorry to report a few casualties in the McDonald’s menu.
While the Spicy Chicken Nuggets take tastebuds by storm, the Big Flavour Wraps save offices up and down the country from hangry colleagues, and the Big Arch continues to cement itself as the new king in town, spare a thought for three burgers who’ve been sent off to Maccies Valhalla.
Brace yourself, because there’s a good chance one of these is a favourite of yours.
The first to quietly vanish from the menu is the Bacon Double Cheeseburger, and the eulogies have been coming thick and fast on social media.
“The bacon double cheeseburger is important to the McDonald’s culture… I’m so disappointed,” said one X user.

The Bacon Mayo Chicken has also clucked its last – for now – and the appetite-smashing Triple Cheeseburger has also been sent to live on a farm.
No announcements were made at the time of their respective departures, but the two bacon-themed burgers were cut in May while the Triple Cheeseburger disappeared in June.

The Bacon Double Cheeseburger had been in action since 2018, with an initial trial run in 64 restaurants being so successful that it soon became a nationwide favourite.
The £2.89 burger came with two patties, cheese, rashers of bacon, onions, gherkins, mustard, and ketchup, and we can only hope that it get shuffled back into the rotation soon.
If you’re determined to get one, you can finagle it by ordered a Double Cheeseburger and adding bacon as an extra, and it’ll only cost you £2.19.
The Triple Cheeseburger was a COVID treat that launched in 2020, featuring three patties and a tonne of cheese for just £2.19.
“Bring back the Triple Cheese Burger, I’m honestly heartbroken,” said one fan on social media.
“McDonald’s in my area stopped doing their Triple Cheese Burger. I cried,” said another.

These kinds of moves are nothing new under the golden arches, with the menu regularly being spruced up with chops and changes. “We’re always evolving our menu with our customers in mind to keep things fresh and exciting,” said a McDonald’s spokesperson.
While the interminable countdown for the return of the Triple Cheeseburger begins, you do at least have a pretty healthily-stuffed McDonald’s menu to keep you occupied.
The Big Tasty and Big Tasty with Bacon are both on the menu until mid-September, provided you’re in East Anglia where they’re being sold exclusively.
Elsewhere, the Chicken Big Mac is very much alive and clucking. It’s a Big Mac but with chicken burgers instead of beef patties and, while it can be a bit sloppy, it’s an absolute flavour sensation.
