McDonald's fans have been left furious after realising something isn’t quite right with a new burger offering.
Maccies products can often prove divisive, as anyone who's ever had to defend the almighty Filet-o-Fish knows all too well.
Recently, people were mega angry over the decision to remove fish fingers from UK Happy Meals, and now there's fresh rage after a previously loved burger was renewed... and left fans seriously disappointed.
Of course, we can only be talking about the Big Tasty.

Controversy has struck the new Big Tasty, which originally launched in 1997, after the beef patty size was shown on a TikTok tutorial of how it’s made in-house.
Essentially, the burger just a beef slab with two slices of cheese, lettuce, onions and tomato, with some burger sauce and that’s about it.
But after McDonald's showed a side-by-side comparison of how the Double Big Tasty is made, people think they’ve been ripped off, with one asking: "Where did the 'Big' go?"

The Big Tasty came back to the menu on 26 November for Christmas, giving people the option to order it as a single or double version, but when a Maccies worker posted the difference, fans have claimed the single option is much smaller than it used to be.
The Formby branch in Liverpool’s video was met with anger when people realised that the burger is no bigger than a Quarter Pounder with Cheese.
Not only that, but the cheese seems to be a different colour, as the Daily Record reported it was switched from emmental to white cheddar, the lettuce is shredded, and it just seems different all round.

In the comments, one person said: "McDonald's, you have done us dirty! Stop calling it the Big Tasty! It's a quarter pounder with tasty sauce!"
A user claimed: “Less meat, less sauce, less tomatoes, less cheese! Bet the price is more as well!”

Someone else asked: "Has it shrunk or am I just remembering different?"

Another wrote: "That's not the Big Tasty, that's the Small Tasty!"
One other fumed: "Stop calling it a Big Tasty. It's a Quarter Pounder with lettuce and sauce."
In response to some of the comments, the Formby McDonald's account replied that the burger is different so that it can help the staff.
It read: "This is an updated version to help simplify the kitchen procedure, helping to ease the kitchen to provide a better product."
A McDonald’s spokesperson explained to FOODbible that, while it's true that the Big Tasty is smaller and helps with the kitchen process, it was also renewed as a smaller product as it gives the customer the ability to choose to have either the single burger, or the double Big Tasty, which is slightly bigger than the original.

They said it was a choice made after listening to their customers, explaining: "We’re always listening to our customers and evolving our menu to reflect their feedback. They told us they love their McDonald’s favourites but want more variety on size, so we’ve delivered. Our iconic Big Tasty now comes in two sizes, perfect for every appetite with the double now providing more Big Tasty than ever before! Whether customers choose one patty or two, they'll still enjoy that unmistakable Big Tasty flavour they know and love.”
