A McDonald’s burger that has been hailed as one of the best ever could finally be heading to menus in the US.
A hot off the grill rumour has just emerged teasing a new addition to the fast food giant’s menu that already has legions of hungry fans across Europe and Canada.
In Portugal during the summer of 2024, McDonald’s trialled a massive new premium burger on menus, one that was a bigger heavyweight than the Double Quarter Pounder and the classic Big Mac.
Word of mouth spread quickly, and the huge burger soon made its way to Germany and Canada. It became available in the UK, Ireland and France in 2025, quickly gaining a reputation as one of the chain’s fastest-growing hits.

We’re talking about the ‘Big Arch’ burger of course. It has two Quarter Pounder patties stacked with slivered onions, crispy onions, three slices of white cheddar, and a Big Arch sauce.
It already has rave reviews, with fans calling it the ‘best McDonald’s burger they’ve ever had’, on Reddit already. “I’ve tried it today, absolutely delish and much, much better than any other burgers on the menu, honestly!” said one glowing review.
“Verdict - delicious,” said another. “Combining the best bits about the Big Mac but with bigger burgers. Only one negative was that by the end it was falling apart.”

While some people have gushed that it’s a ‘Big Mac on steroids’.
It’s clear why American fans are hungry for their own Big Arch. The burger, which has already achieved cult classic status abroad, had its US debut in the McDonald’s HQ restaurant in Chicago, where it was placed on the international menu as a showpiece item. Priced at $7.99 on its own or $10.99 as part of a meal with fries and a drink, lots of McDonald’s fans across the US still felt left out.
But that could soon be changing. A food blog is claiming that the Big Arch will finally arrive on US menus in a matter of days.
“The Big Arch is FINALLY coming to the US and it drops on March 3rd nationwide,” the post from Snackolator reads, adding that they tried the ‘ginormous’ burger in Canada and liked it. As of right now, this is just a rumour.
McDonald’s has been quick to point out that the Big Arch is more than a novelty item. Its success abroad has prompted executives to fast-track discussions about rolling it out further.

McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski previously said during an earnings call: “The pilot of our larger burger offering, Big Arch, now in three international markets, Portugal, Germany, and Canada, shows that we’re listening to consumer tastes and delivering. We're encouraged by the results showing the Big Arch has universal appeal with sizable opportunity across markets. And thanks to the success of the pilot, we're accelerating plans.
“We’ll work with franchisees and partners to deploy the Big Arch faster into more international markets in 2025.”
McDonald’s has yet to confirm a launch date for the Big Arch in the US as a permanent item. FOODbible has contacted McDonald’s for comment.
