It’s been more than five decades since McDonald’s debuted in the United Kingdom, bringing classic hamburgers, salty fries, and later McChicken Nuggets to the family dinner table.
Over the years, we’ve seen some fan-favourites being added to the menu, including the ‘best burger ever’, The Big Arch, and more recently, the return of the Philly Cheese Stack.
However, we have lost some gems along the way.
Earlier in 2026, McDonald’s confirmed it was saying farewell to some of its vegetarian-friendly products, and that the ‘Secret Menu’ was being replaced by the brand-new Friends Meal.

If you’ve been eating at the fast-food chain for your entire life, then you may have some flash-in-the-pan products that you would love to see return.
Zingo Bingo recently worked with Censuswide to poll 2,000 adults, discovering the top ten discontinued food items that British residents would most like to make a comeback.
They include frozen desserts, bite-sized sides, and a chicken burger that bowed out after 15 years on the roster in 2022.
10 - Chilli Cheese Bites

Despite making their triumphant comeback as part of January’s Secret Menu promotion, fans are already begging for the Chilli Cheese Bites to return.
Sold in packs of four, the crispy triangles contain a delightful mix of gooey cheese spiced with green chilli.
According to the Zingo Bingo poll, 15 percent of British eaters are desperate for it to be made a permanent staple.
9 - Chilli Double Cheeseburger

The UK is apparently grieving the Chilli Double Cheeseburger, with 16 percent of survey respondents admitting they’re nostalgic for the limited-edition Saver Menu favourite.
Consisting of two beef patties, cheese, jalapenos, onion, pickles, and spicy relish on a bun, the spicy treat landed in 2024 but was axed less than a year later.
“When it was added to the saver menu, I thought it was permanent. It became my absolute favourite burger, I’m so gutted,” said one Redditor at the time of its cancellation.
It appears that 16 percent of survey respondents want the burger back ASAP
8 - Strawberry Sundae

Ice cream lovers across the length and breadth of the UK officially entered mourning on 26 September 2018 when McDonald’s officially discontinued the 99p Strawberry Sundae.
A statement posted on X revealed that the dessert had been scrapped because it ‘wasn't very popular’.
However, that hasn't stopped numerous campaigns from launching online in an attempt to bring them back.
17 percent of fans said they’d happily slurp down one of these sweet treats again.
7 - Toffee Sundae

Just like the beloved Strawberry Sundae, Maccies waved farewell to the toffee version of the frozen treat in 2018.
The dessert has pipped its berry-flavoured sister to the post, with 18 percent of survey participants desperate for it to return.
6 - Steakhouse Stack

Once described as McDonald’s ‘best ever burger’, the Steakhouse Stack returned to British restaurants last May - and fans are seemingly desperate for history to repeat itself.
The premium burger’s creamy peppercorn sauce set it head-and-shoulders above its competitors upon its release in March 2023, and 19 percent of fans want it back in their lives.
5 - Breakfast Bagel

Gone but not forgotten - the humble Maccies Breakfast Bagel was available in Sausage and Egg, Bacon and Egg, or Egg and Cheese varieties before being quietly cut in March 2020.
19 percent claim they would purchase a Breakfast Bagel if it returned to the menu, while almost 100 have signed a Change.org petition asking for the same thing.
4 - Kit Kat McFlurry

21 percent of revellers want the Kit Kat McFlurry back in their lives - and let’s be frank, can you blame them?
It featured the brand’s iconic soft serve ice cream swirled with crushed KitKat pieces and topped with a hot fudge sauce.
How excited would you be for the frozen treat to return?
3 - Chicken Legend

The ultimate main entrée, the Chicken Legend, was discontinued in October 2022 after 15 years to make way for the McCrispy.
All forms of the burger, including cool mayo, BBQ, and hot spicy mayo variations, were ripped from the menu and have yet to make a comeback.
Facebook users previously described the Chicken legend as the ‘best thing on the menu to date’, arguing that it needs to be re-released ASAP, as per The Mirror.
And it turns out that almost one quarter of survey respondents (21 percent) would agree.
2 - Creme Egg McFlurry

When it comes to holiday-themed menus, nobody does it like McDonald’s.
The fast-food restaurant’s Easter array is usually pretty hard to beat, with the Creme Egg McFlurry being a returning hero.
The seasonal treat features vanilla soft serve blended with Cadbury milk chocolate pieces and Creme Egg fondant.
The limited-time offering is usually available in March and April, with 27 percent of Brits hoping it returns again in 2026.
1 - Triple Cheeseburger

Research suggests that 30 percent of fast-food lovers are hoping and praying that McDonald’s Triple Cheeseburger will once again be available to purchase.
The burger, which first appeared on the roster in 2020, consisted of three pure beef patties topped with tangy pickles, chopped onions, two slices of American cheese, and squirts of ketchup and mustard.
McDonald’s claimed it was taken off the menu in June 2025 to make room for ‘fresh and exciting’ additions.
