People have been left up in arms after McDonald’s announced it is axing a beloved Happy Meal option.
There’s nothing worse than going to Maccies and realising that your picky eater child can’t order the only meal he agrees to eat.
Sadly, that’s probably something UK parents are now going to have to consider now that the chain has revealed it’s doing away with a popular item among some children.
Because of the disruption, parents have gone to social media to moan about it, and the reactions to it have been mixed.

So, what’s the fuss about?

According to McDonald’s, the Fish Fingers will no longer be available in Happy Meals.
But fear not, the restaurant said it will add a new McFish option, as well as a new Mayo Chicken bite.

The McFish comes with a Filet-O-Fish patty in a bun with ketchup, which you can buy instead of the fingers from 26 November and onwards.
If you thought you could just buy the Fish Bites from the menu instead, those are going too.
Mums on Facebook have been left fuming, with one stating: “That’s not fair on younger kids that can eat fish fingers that you don’t want to give them as a burger with bread, etc.”
Another commented: “My daughter only likes Fish Finger Happy Meal… What a silly idea.”

Someone else vowed: “That’s it, we are never going to McDonald’s ever again.”

A fourth wrote: “Ah gutted, my little one won’t eat anything in burger shape. Fish Fingers are her favourite!”
A fifth said: “Fish Fingers are the only one my son likes on the menu, will be yet another place we can’t go because he doesn’t like anything else. Absolute pain when we are doing a long journey and need a quick, hot meal on the way.”

As for why it’s happening, a Mcdonald’s spokesperson told Foodbible it’s so they can change switch things up: “We’re always looking at ways to innovate our menu offering for our customers. We’re excited to welcome two new additions to Happy Meal, including the Mayo Chicken and the McFish. We know the Mayo Chicken is hugely popular across all age ranges, and that the McFish addition to Happy Meal has been successful in other markets, so we’re confident these changes will make our Happy Meal options better than ever. Both meals will be available from Wednesday 26th November.”
Hopefully the kids won’t mind switching to a burger or choosing to eat the chicken nuggets instead.
