The McDonald’s Monopoly game has become an annual event, with a history spanning decades at this point.
In step with the return of the beloved game in which you can peel Monopoly tokens off specified McDonald’s products, potentially winning instantly if not gradually as you collect a set, the menu under the Golden Arches is getting yet another 2025 shake-up.
The £2 million in prizes and the quiet joy of picking up Monopoly tokens might not be enough to lure you into a Maccies, but perhaps another returning icon will do the trick.
It’s so iconic that some have dubbed it the ‘best ever burger’ to be flipped on a McDonald’s grill.

That’s right: it’s the Philly Cheese Stack.
If you haven’t had the pleasure, it consists of two beef burgers, the all-important cheese slices, gherkins, cheese sauce, onions, and a toasted bun.
As exports from Philadelphia go, it’s a pretty special one.
So special, in fact, that fans have been badgering McDonald’s to bring it back each time its limited appearances on menus come to an end.
It debuted in 2023 then fell into the aether until its glorious September 2024 return. A brief disappearance was followed by another resurrection earlier in 2025.
Fans haven’t had to wait long for another appearance, with its summer hiatus coming to an end from 10 September.
The burger is priced at £6.29, and it’s jumping back into menus alongside the Chicken Big Mac, a loaded caramel McFlurry, a honeycomb latte, mozzarella dippers, and The Fajita Chicken One if you’re up for a Mexican-inspired dalliance.
Social media isn’t short on glowing reviews of the Philly Cheese Stack.
“Had my first Philly Cheese Stack burger from Maccies at lunch today, I was pleasantly surprised, though I wasn’t expecting much from it,” posted a Redditor during its 2024 run on the UK McDonald’s menu.
“The crispy onions go well with the cheese sauce I thought, and the buns quite nice, I’ll probably go back for another before it’s off menu.
“I love it, it’s my new favourite,” said another, adding a drooling emoji for added effect.

“Guys, I thought it was phenomenal,” shared another. “It’s your classic McDonald’s burger but with a NACHO SAUCE and crispy onions and pickles. If that’s a bit of you then you will like it.”
As with its previous appearances on the menu, it’s fair to assume the Philly Cheese Stack will only be available for a limited time. Be sure to get down to a local McDonald’s for a taste before time’s up, and we wish you the best of luck with the Monopoly game.
May the odds be ever in your favour.
