McDonald's announces huge menu shakeup coming this month as fan favourites axed

New treats, returning favourites and fan favourites axed - here’s what’s changing this September.

McDonald’s is shaking up its UK menu this September, and yes, it’s stirring more than just your fries.

With fan favourites being retired, new indulgences making their debut and the return of the iconic Monopoly game, there’s plenty to talk about - and taste. But while some items are returning to steal the spotlight, others are being waved goodbye, leaving a bittersweet mix of nostalgia and excitement for customers.

The menu overhaul, which kicks off September 10th, coincides with the annual McDonald’s Monopoly promotion, the fast-food giant’s beloved game that lets customers collect pieces for a chance to win everything from free food to luxury holidays. And this year, the stakes are higher: more menu items are participating than ever before, making it the perfect excuse to treat yourself.

So, what’s new? Dessert lovers, rejoice. The Loaded Caramel McFlurry is making its debut: caramel cubes, white chocolate-covered shortbread pieces, milk chocolate chips and a generous drizzle of caramel sauce over soft, creamy ice cream. It’s the kind of dessert that makes you forget about calories and dive straight into indulgence.

Meanwhile, coffee aficionados have reason to celebrate with the Honeycomb Latte, a smooth, comforting drink infused with honeycomb syrup - perfect for chilly autumn mornings.

Breakfast fans aren’t being left behind, either. The Breakfast Wrap is now officially part of the Monopoly promotion, and it’s a serious contender for your go-to morning meal. Inside a soft tortilla, you’ll find a pork sausage patty, two free-range eggs, bacon, a crispy potato rosti and cheese. It’s a hearty, comforting wrap that’s worth waking up for - and collecting game pieces while you’re at it.

But for every new item, there are departures, and this time McDonald’s is retiring some heavy-hitters.

Big names like the Big Tasty, Spicy Chicken McNuggets, Steakhouse Stack and the Milky Way McFlurry will no longer be on the menu.

Alongside them, Sprite Zero with Green Apple or Mango and Passionfruit flavours, Jaffa Cakes McFlurry, Chilli Cheese Bites and the Big Arch are also being axed. It’s always a little sad to say goodbye to beloved classics, but in true fast-food fashion, it makes room for fresh creativity and seasonal favourites.

The menu shakeup isn’t just about what’s on your plate; it’s also about experience. With Monopoly back, your meals are more than just a quick bite - they’re a chance to play, win, and maybe even snag that £100,000 prize.

Participating items include the new Loaded Caramel McFlurry, Honeycomb Latte, returning favourites like the Philly Cheese Stack and Chicken Big Mac, as well as regular and large McCafé hot drinks. Pro tip: download the My McDonald’s app to scan QR codes and track your progress - it’s almost as satisfying as the food itself.

Speaking of returning favourites, McDonald’s has listened to its fans. Items like the Philly Cheese Stack, Chicken Big Mac and Mozzarella Dippers are making a comeback, proving that the menu isn’t just about new flavours - it’s about keeping the classics that customers love.

The Philly Cheese Stack, with two beef patties, cheese sauce, grilled and crispy onions and pickles in a toasted bun, is comfort food at its best, while the Chicken Big Mac brings a lighter, but no less satisfying, twist to a fast-food icon.

This menu shakeup is a reminder that McDonald’s always has it's finger on the pulse, merging nostalgia with novelty, whether customers are here for it or not.
