The UK’s ‘favourite’ supermarket has officially been crowned at an annual retailer awards ceremony, and you may be surprised to hear that it’s not necessarily the cheapest.
We get it—you’re ridiculously loyal to your supermarket of choice.
Whether that be Waitrose, which recently stopped selling mackerel amid sustainability warnings; Sainsbury’s, with the chain pledging to cease buying brown hen eggs; Londis, of which fans are only just finding out the true meaning behind its name; and the Co-op, where Cinnabon relaunched earlier this year.
And while the quartet are firm favourites, as are Aldi and Lidl, they aren’t considered the ‘best’ supermarket in Britain, according to the food and drink industry’s version of the Oscars.
