The build-up to Christmas always starts the same way: a slow but steady takeover of supermarket aisles, a rise in chattery group chats about who’s hosting this year, and that familiar scramble to work out how to make the big day feel special without turning the food shop into a financial crisis.
As the festive shelves stack higher, shoppers are already weighing up their options and trying to decide where the real wins will come from.
As the early December rush settles in, some savvy bargain hunters seem to think a frontrunner has already emerged. Social media feeds are filling with people swapping tips, sharing their surprise, and pointing out deals that sound too good to be true.
It’s that time of year when everyone hopes for a bit of magic at the till, and this year, it looks like Aldi may be the one delivering it, despite the company’s price rises earlier this year.

What’s caught people’s attention isn’t just another seasonal nibble or novelty item, but something much bigger: the kind of deal that could genuinely change how families plan the most expensive meal of the year.

Aldi is offering Christmas dinner for eight for less than £12, coming in at just £11.85: a full festive feast for as little as £1.48 per person.
Available from 19 to 24 December, the supermarket is bundling all the essentials together, including a British Small Whole Fresh Turkey (£9, 3.05kg/£2.95 per kg), Quixo Sage & Onion Stuffing Mix (45p, 170g), Everyday Essentials Yorkshire Puddings (46p, 15 pack), plus Nature’s Pick White Potatoes (2kg), Brussels Sprouts (500g), Carrots (1kg) and Parsnips (500g) for 8p each, finished with Quixo Gravy (£1.09, 300g).

According to Aldi, these prices coincide with its Christmas Super Six veg promotion, which sees festive vegetables reduced to just 8p, and the supermarket is also offering the cheapest fresh turkeys on the market, starting from £5.90 for a 2kg bird, as shown in the supermarket’s press release.

Shoppers wanting something more premium aren’t left out either, with options including the Specially Selected The Ultimate British Free-Range Whole Turkey (£13.49 per kg, 4-5.99kg) and the Specially Selected Roast-in-the-Bag Roly Poly Stuffed Turkey Crown (£20.99 per kg, 1.5-2.3kg), available from 19 December.
All of this comes as Aldi celebrates winning Retailer of the Year for the third year running and Christmas Retailer of the Year for the sixth time, further reinforcing the supermarket’s push to position itself as the go-to choice for affordable festive food.
