Euphoria Sundays are officially back, with one eyebrow-raising scene featuring Sydney Sweeney ‘sploshing’ doing the rounds online - but what exactly is the X-rated bedroom trend?
The 28-year-old returned to the helm of Sam Levinson’s HBO show earlier this month as Cassie Howard, the OnlyFans star who is willing to go above and beyond to earn money for her picture-perfect wedding to Nate Jacobs (played by Jacob Elordi).
Alongside donning attire to turn her into a dog and an adult-sized toddler, Howard was spotted in episode three trying another boudoir-based festish called ‘sploshing’

The sexual kink, initially mentioned in Splosh! magazine, is a wet and messy (WAM) fetishism that involves substances like food being sprayed, poured, splashed or smeared onto someone.
While some people may enjoy being covered in the substances themselves, others may prefer to watch it being smooshed on to someone else.
According to a research paper published in the Journal of Media & Cultural Studies, WAM has a number of elements in common with bondage-discipline, domination-submission, sadomasochism (BDSM).
Pornography featuring sploshing often contains elements associated with slapstick comedy, too, Melissa Beattie, Assistant Professor of Communication/Ambassador’s Distinguished Scholars Programme Fellow at Bahir Dar University, argued.
Any kind of food can be used in sploshing, including spaghetti, cucumbers, and chocolate, according to Ayesha Hussain, co-creator of Pass The Porn and founder of The Violet.
In season three of the post-high school fantasia, Sweeney’s character used an ice cream cone to herald the sploshing revival.
The erotic Euphoria scene pictures a topless Howard standing outside, licking the frozen treat while it melts and drips down onto her breasts.
After successfully sploshing, the model completed a sports-inspired shoot wearing a backwards hat and a baseball glove.
Fans and critics alike have been having their say, with one X user typing in shock: “She had ice cream dripping down her and a football undressed on the front lawn.”
Someone else responded: “ICE CREAM ON YOUR T****ES ON YOUR FRONT LAWN CASSANDRA?”
“That Cassie photo shoot sequence…#hatedthat,” commented another X user.
A fourth said: “I need a trigger warning for any time Cassie is on my screen."
The kink may have roots in the 80s, but apparently lots of people these days find food-based kinks arousing.
Hussain said that this is probably because a lot of people perceive the mouth as a vessel that is ‘inherently sexual’.
"It opens, it’s moist, and when you get aroused, your mouth opens more and gets more lubricated,” she explained to Men’s Health.
In 2023, The Housemaid favourite revealed that she had an extremely ‘relatable’ comfort food that was a ‘staple’ of her childhood
“Sometimes I'll find myself making hot dogs and mac and cheese on a late night and watch a movie,” she said in an interview with People Magazine.
She also said that she is ‘addicted to sugar’ and that she loves candy and sweets.
