A patron of The Farmer’s Dog has apologised to its landlord after he threw up in one of the institution’s flowerbeds amid a one-off evening event.

Jeremy Clarkson’s pub is fast becoming a jewel in the Cotswolds pub scene, with the institution famed for championing seasonal ingredients and all-British produce, including a newly introduced range of English sparkling wine.

Despite its reputation for producing mouthwatering dishes, the pub has made headlines over the years for less savoury reasons, including critics bashing its prices, and with Clarkson himself claiming people who dine with food allergies and intolerances are ‘annoying’.

“I’m seriously thinking of banning people with food intolerances. I know it would be commercial suicide but they are just so annoying,” he wrote in his column for The Sun.

The latest issue to arise at The Farmer’s Dog is that someone has actually vomited in one of the decorative flowerbeds following an evening feast.

The incident was broadcast during one of the latest episodes of Clarkson’s Farm, which is gearing up for the season five finale next week (17 June).

‘Frazzling’, the sixth episode of the fifth series, saw the 66-year-old hosting a ‘dare food night’ at the pub.

The idea was that his guests, including girlfriend Lisa Hogan, could try foods they wouldn’t normally eat.

Instead of being a gimmick, the ex-Grand Tour presenter claimed it was to highlight the issue of food waste and how expensive ‘normal’ cuts of meat, including beef, can be.

The evening saw Clarkson and his chef putting together an eclectic menu featuring snail eggs, lamb’s brain, fried squirrel, and ‘palate cleanser’ hot sauces.

A trio of hotter-than-hell condiments were handed out for guests to try, with Clarkson claiming they ranked between 15 million and seven million on the Scoville scale.

For reference, classic Sriracha hot chilli sauce typically ranges between 1,000 and 2,500 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), while a raw jalapeño pepper can rank up to 8,000 SHU.

After consuming, some guests were filmed sweating, crying and coughing; one unfortunately couldn’t handle it and was filmed escaping from the table.

Amid gulping down air, the man leaned across the pub’s decking and vomited all over one of the pub’s flowerbeds.

Following the Clarkson’s Farm episode airing on Wednesday (10 June), the man, who has came forward as 'Jan', took to social media to admit he was the one who puked on the TV show.

“My ‘starring role’ on Clarkson’s Farm is out today. Yes, I’m the guy who was sick in Jeremy’s flowerbed.”

He then shared a quick apology to The Farmer’s Dog owner, writing: “Sorry @JeremyClarkson.”

Despite the sickness, Clarkson called it ‘a fun night [that] was good for the pub’.

Clarkson’s Farm has been confirmed for a sixth season, with Clarkson claiming earlier this year that there is scope for a seventh.

“We'll definitely do six – Amazon want to [do series six] and I want to. I've got a good idea for six,” he told The Sun.

"I said I'll stop doing them when there are no more ideas. But I've got two quite good ones, so we'll do six and then we'll see…”

Speaking about the filming break between seasons, the father-of-three said: "We've never had a rest, we wrap a series and immediately start again because farming doesn't stop. You harvest and you immediately start drilling for the next year.”

Clarkson’s Farm series five is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
