Huge news for the British food scene: the country is about to get its first-ever Time Out Market, and it’s opening at an iconic London location extremely soon.
If you’ve never heard of Time Out Market before, then oh boy, this international concept is sure to appeal.
To put it plainly, a curated pack of local chefs and independent eateries from particular cities trade under one roof, creating the ultimate foodie destination and your one-stop shop for good grub and better beverages.
For example, anyone who heads to the inaugural venue in Lisbon can flit between 26 restaurants, including Libertà Pasta Bar and Octo Dog, enjoy boozy drinks at up to eight bars, enrol in a cooking academy, and peruse a dozen shops.

Since Time Out Market Lisboa opened in 2014, the concept has popped up in 12 other cities, including Budapest, Osaka, Cape Town, and Dubai. Boston, Montreal, Porto, Bahrain, Barcelona, Chicago and New York also play host.

Excitingly, London is set to get its own Time Out Market, as per the AIM-listed media and hospitality company.
London to get Time Out Market
The three-story flagship will open at 55 Regent Street, an iconic West End location which draws an annual footfall of around 74 million, as reported by UK Investor Magazine.
It’s set to be open to visitors by summer 2028 and will span more than 26,000 sq ft.
Time Out Market London will not host as many restaurants, bars, and food businesses as its Lisbon sister, with around 15 being the limit, the publication states.
It’s understood that a ‘mix of established local favourites and emerging talent’ will be installed, creating around 130 jobs in the English capital.
Time Out’s local editors will deliver a year-round programme of live entertainment and cultural experiences.
“More than just a place to eat and drink, London’s Market will reflect the city’s energy, diversity and creativity with a year-round programme of cultural events and entertainment. Expect no less than the city’s most exciting chefs, restaurateurs and cultural experiences,” Time Out wrote.

Speaking about the opening, Chris Ohlund, CEO of Time Out Group plc said: “Securing this partnership with The Crown Estate to create our global flagship in the heart of Piccadilly Circus is one of the most significant milestones in Time Out’s nearly 60-year history.
“Bringing the globally recognised Time Out Market concept home to London is both a celebration of where we began and a statement of where we are going.”
He continued, calling London one of the ‘world’s greatest cities for food and culture’, and that there was ‘no better location’ than Piccadilly Circus to showcase everything that makes it ‘extraordinary’.
“Together with The Crown Estate, we are creating a destination that will celebrate London’s best chefs, restaurateurs, artists and creators while welcoming millions of Londoners and visitors every year.”
Time Out Market London will be situated at 55 Regent Street, W1B 4DY.
