Ted Lasso is finally back in action, and this time the Kansas native is taking on his ‘biggest challenge yet’: turning the Lady Greyhounds from a second-tier team into top-of-the-league champions.
Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, and Juno Temple have returned to the uplifting Apple TV series, with the trio starring alongside Brett Goldstein and newcomers Tanya Reynolds, who plays Alice Chilton, AFC Richmond women’s team assistant coach, and Faye Marsay, enlisted to portray CB Lizzie.
Set three years after Lasso’s departure from the men’s team, the 10-episode series will release episodes weekly through to 7 October.
Previously, leading man Sudeikis, 50, has sat down to detail exactly what a day on his plate looks like and what food fuels his time on set, including his go-to breakfast drink and why Taco Bell is his favourite grab-and-go eatery.

Elsewhere, the star has also discussed his favourite restaurant in Kansas, an ice cream flavour his children enjoy, and his own ride-or-die cuisine.
What Jason Sudeikis eats in a day while filming

In 2023, the American comic sat down with Harper’s Bazaar’s YouTube channel to detail exactly what’s on his plate during long filming days.
And unlike Tom Holland and his Odyssey co-star Matt Damon, Sudeikis is seemingly more concerned with taste, joy, and how the food will fill rather than sticking to a strict diet.
Breakfast
During Ted Lasso filming, the star claimed he would just snack on apple slices and cans of Celsius energy drink for breakfast.
Energy drinks are often high in caffeine, which can cause some people to feel ‘anxious, raise blood pressure and lead to heart palpitations and trouble sleeping’, as per the American Heart Association.
Apples, meanwhile, are a good source of vitamin C and are packed with fibre.
However, when not needed on set first thing, he tends to eat cereal or huevos rancheros — AKA ranch eggs.

The Mexican staple often features eggs, chillies, tomatoes and peppers.
The dishes are often washed down with a cup of coffee or tea, both served with milk and sugar.
Lunch
When working on set, Sudeikis admitted that he tries to ‘mix it up’, eating things like turkey sandwiches and breakfast burritos.
“I do like sushi,” he confessed. “It’s one of those foods that almost feel like you’re working out when you eat it. I usually just go for sashimi.”
Shashimi - pure, sliced raw fish - is considered an excellent source of dense, lean protein and may help you lose weight and maintain a healthy body weight.

It’s also a good source of healthy fats, such as omega-3, which regulate inflammation and promote heart health, as per experts at Healthline.
“I’m a little bit all over the place but if I had to choose, I would choose sushi. But that can get a little pricey so we mix it up.”
Snacks
When it comes to Sudeikis’ favourite snacks, he’s apparently a big fan of Sour Patch Kids packets and salted peanuts.
Despite being high in monounsaturated fat, salted peanuts provide a dose of plant-based protein.
The British Heart Foundation warns that too much salt can cause high blood pressure, heart disease, and possibly bring about a stroke.
Dinner
Much like his breakfast go-to of huevos rancheros, the We’re the Millers actor often opts to dig into Mexican cuisine for dinner.
And he’s not fussy. As long as a menu has ‘good margaritas, chips and salsa’, then he’s down.

“It’s hard to be in a bad mood at a Mexican restaurant and eating Mexican food, especially when you're with people you care about and people you like.”
Sudeikis isn’t the only celebrity to wax lyrical about his love for Mexican cuisine, with Salma Hayek previously claiming she makes the ‘best tacos outside of Mexico’ and Selena Gomez also being a big fan, according to her husband, Benny Blanco.

Taco Bell
In his Harper’s Bazaar interview, the father-of-two admitted that he ‘loves’ stopping off at Taco Bell.
At his local, he claims the soft shell tacos are ‘always soft’, and that his obsession has been passed on to his son, Otis, whom he shares with ex-partner and film director Olivia Wilde.
“It may be the worst thing I’ve influenced him on,” the Virginia-born star stated.
“It’s delicious, but you can’t have Taco Bell once every couple of weeks, if that.”
Gates Bar-B-Q
Ahead of Ted Lasso series four, Sudeikis spoke to People Magazine about his love for Gates Bar-B-Q.
The Kansas City chain has been serving up award-winning sauces and rubs since 1946 and even features in the first episode of the beloved Apple TV show.

The Booksmart alumni’s order apparently often consists of pulled pork or burnt ends.
“You can’t go wrong with burnt-ends at any of the establishments. And you could put that sauce on just about anything,” he said.
Jason Sudeikis has never tasted the Ted Lasso biscuits
Despite his character dropping off boxed homemade biscuits every morning for Rebecca Welton (played by Hannah Waddingham), Sudeikis has admitted that he’s never actually sampled them.
The confession was made during an appearance on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, where he was gifted some biscuits as part of a game.

When Jenna Bush Hager said she ‘hoped’ they were as good as the Ted Lasso delight, Sudeikis said: “Yeah I mean you would have to ask Hannah. I’ve never actually had them.”
“You’ve never gotten curious and just said, ‘I wanna taste what this biscuit tastes like?’” he was asked.
In reply, the ex-SNL icon said: “I’m not biscuit curious, no.”
His kids are ‘fans’ of Ted Lasso ice cream
Despite his lack of curiosity, he did admit that his children are big fans of the Ted Lasso ice cream made by Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams.

The limited-edition flavour, inspired by Lasso and Welton’s ‘biscuits with the boss chats’, recently returned in honour of series four.
The so-called ‘pep talk in a pint’ features crumbly shortbread cookie pieces folded into salted butter sweet cream ice cream.
