Popular US chain branded 'better than Subway' finally coming to UK

An iconic United States chain is officially set to open its doors in Britain for the first time this autumn, and fans are convinced its sandwiches will be ‘better than Subway’.

When it comes to fast-food, the US really is king. Legendary eateries already operating on the UK high street include Dave’s Hot Chicken, where you have to sign a waiver before eating hot sauce; Popeye’s, where customers can grab pots of sauce in coffee-cup-sized servings; and, of course, classics like KFC, McDonald’s, and Burger King.

Houston Hot Chicken and Raising Cane’s are both set to start operating in Britain this year, along with another Stateside favourite known for its East Coast-style sub sandwiches.

The famed eatery has already revealed ambitious plans to open a whopping 400 restaurants in the UK and Ireland, with its CEO Charlie Morrison calling the extension a ‘pivotal milestone’ in the grab-and-go chain’s ‘growth journey’,

Andy Skehan, president of the international market, said the two territories have been specifically targeted for their ‘incredible potential’.

Yes, that’s right—Jersey Mike’s Subs is setting up shop this autumn.

The sandwich chain has been slinging subs for more than seven decades and now plans to open its first store on British soil on Argyll Street, Soho.

Three other central London branches are set to follow in quick succession.

Speaking about the upcoming openings, founder Peter Cancro has commented: “Jersey Mike’s has always been about making a great sub, taking care of our customers and giving back to the communities we’re part of.

“I’m incredibly excited to bring that same spirit to the UK. We’ve spent decades building this brand in America, and now we’re ready to introduce a whole new audience to what we mean when we say ‘a Sub Above’.”

Jersey Mike’s has often been dubbed ‘better than Subway’ by fans due to its iconic sub-building methods.

Italian-leaning submarine rolls are chock-full of sliced meats, a selection of cheeses, and fresh, crisp vegetables.

Sandwich artists then rinse with a unique, in-house dressing known as ‘the juice’, made up of red wine vinegar and oil.

You can even choose to have your sandwich ‘Mike’s Way’, featuring onions, lettuce and tomatoes.

Fans are ecstatic to hear that Jersey Mike’s Subs is finally heading to Britain, with many sharing their recipes for success.

“Jersey Mikes BLT, let Mike have his way with it, extra mayo, extra bacon, extra tomato, and extra banana peppers ... f***ing chills,” one X user wrote.
