McDonald's US overhauls breakfast menu with new line of McMuffins

Whether it's a little treat before a work day, a pit stop on a road trip, or a hungover feast, a McDonald's breakfast often does the trick.

There are so many delicious options on the US McDonald's breakfast menu, including crispy hash browns, nice strong coffee, and the fan favourite McMuffin range. The line-up includes the classic Egg McMuffin, the Sausage McMuffin, Sausage McMuffin with Egg, Sausage Biscuit, Sausage Biscuit with Egg, Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit, and much more, with bagels, McGriddles and the Big Breakfast also on offer.

If that wasn't enough, McDonald's are boosting their breakfast offering even further with a new line of McMuffins that look bound to tickle Americans' tastebuds of a morning. Along with the usual ingredients like gooey cheese, egg, bacon and a toasted English Muffin bun, there'll be a tantalising new inclusion that's perfect for those who like to start their day with a bang.

That's right, McDonald's is spicing things up in the US with a new range of Spicy McMuffins. From July 8, diners can dig into the new Spicy Egg McMuffin which includes all the usual ingredients but with the extra addition of a spicy sauce.

Those who like a meatier breakfast sandwich can try the Spicy Sausage McMuffin or the Spicy Sausage McMuffin with Egg, both of which also come with a shot of McDonald's signature Spicy Pepper Sauce.

While the fast food giant hasn't confirmed how long these items will be available, those who are keen to get a taste should be quick as they're said to only be available for a 'limited time'.

The new addition comes as McDonald's celebrates 50 years of the Egg McMuffin, which has been around since 1975.

There are some sweeter new items on the menu, too, including the Blueberry & Crème Pie and the HERSHEY’S S’mores McFlurry. The pie features blueberries and vanilla crème layered side-by-side in the delightfully crunchy pie shell, while the McFlurry has the classic vanilla soft serve topped with HERSHEY's milk chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallows for the quintessential campfire vibe.

Those who are tempted to hit the drive-thru for a spicy morning McMuffin might also be pleased to hear that the new offering can be made into a meal, supplemented by crispy hash browns and a small McCafe coffee - the perfect way to start the day, if you ask us.

There are still a few days to wait, as the new Spicy McMuffins launch on July 8, so try to keep the mouthwatering in check until then.
