McDonald's introduces major change to ordering across UK

Maccies has given customers something they didn't know they needed

McDonald’s has made a major announcement and it’s going to change everything about how you order.

Have you ever been so hungry for a Maccies, but when you get to there you find that it’s rammed with a load of people?

Well, the fast-food chain might have just solved the issue.

Instead of waiting for what seems like an hour (when it’s actually minutes), you can get your McMuffin immediately with this handy new feature.

Now, if you don’t have the McDonald’s App, it’s time to download it or you’ll miss out on this fast-track launch.

Essentially, it allows you to jump the queue to pick up your food as soon as you step foot inside of the establishment.

But how can that be?

The ‘Order Ahead’ feature on the McDonald’s App lets your local outlet know when you’re close by so they can prepare your order ahead of time.

Then, once you enter the building, it’ll be ready to collect immediately.

“Order Ahead is ideal for customers who value speed and convenience, perfect for busy parents always on the go, students juggling deadlines or those just trying to squeeze in a quick lunch,” a spokesperson for McDonald’s said as per Metro.

“Whether you’re taking away or dining in, Order Ahead helps you jump the queue and enjoy your McDonald’s favourites faster. From a Big Mac on the go to McNuggets on Click and Serve, or Fries delivered to your table — your order will be hot, fresh, and perfectly timed.

"So, get ahead of your hunger by ordering ahead on the McDonald’s App!”

So, how does it all work?

According to McDonald’s website, the Order Ahead feature comes with three different options.

No doubt this will go down well with fans, many of whom have previously complained about how long they've had to wait.

"At my store, I've been getting a lot of complaints recently about how mobile orders aren't ready to be picked up and they have to wait," one staffer said on Reddit a few months back.

A customer replied: "I think the worse part is when you do the mobile order and you go through before someone who just orders through the speaker and your still there waiting 10 minutes after the ones who ordered through the speaker."

Under the new system, you can either order and then collect from the till, order and have your food brought to your table, or order and collect via the Drive Thru.

To know when your order is ready at the Front Counter, ‘your order number that you can see on the App will be displayed on the screen above the counter when your food is ready’.

However, if you tick ‘Table Service’, a staff member will bring your food to the table number you enter in the App during the order process.

Finally, if you have chosen to pick up your food at the Drive Thru, as soon as you enter the Drive Thru, you will need to give your order number to the staff, and they will then start preparing your order immediately from that point.

However, make sure you’re close to the location before ordering, or it could be ready and waiting for some time before you mosey on in.
