Burger King doesn’t refresh its menu quite as often as its stiffest competition in McDonald’s does, but it’s got a similar eye for a delicious new product.
So far this year we’ve seen the launch of the Kansas BBQ Chicken Fries, along with a host of limited edition options tied in with the live-action How to Train your Dragon remake, and then the BBQ Brisket Whopper announced last month.
But if one new burger wasn’t enough, Burger King has followed up with yet another lip-smacking addition to its roster.
The BBQ Briskey Whopper was the first menu addition to come from the ‘Whopper by You’ platform, which opens the floor to fans to suggest new burgers to the King, and the second in that lineage will be the Crispy Onion Whopper.

Its simplicity belies its genius: a classic Whopper with bacon and onions.
The Crispy Onion Whopper will come with a quarter-pound flame-grilled patty, fresh and crunchy lettuce, flavoursome tomatoes, crispy onions, melted American cheese, pickles, onion rings, bacon, and a slathering of BBQ sauce.
“With layers on layers of flavor, the Crispy Onion Whopper is the ultimate mix of sweet, savory and crunch that BK fans have been asking for,” said Burger King in a press release.
If that sounds like a bit too much for your plate, a smaller Whopper Jr option will also be avaiable.
“Burger King Guests have been loving the recently launched BBQ Brisket Whopper, so we’re excited to bring another Guest-inspired creation to our menus,” said Joel Yashinsky, Chief Marketing Officer, Burger King US&C, in the press release announcing the new burger.
“Like the BBQ Brisket Whopper, the Crispy Onion Whopper is a result of listening to our Guests, and we can’t wait to see what else they come up with that could make its way to BK restaurants in the future.”
If you want to get in on the burger-suggesting action, Whopper by You is still up and running.
Simply head to bk.com/wby and follow the instructions.

For every submission that meets Burger King’s submission standards, you’ll receive some Royal Perks for use at your local Burger King. That could include a $0.01 Whopper each week for a year, free burgers with other purchases, and much more.
To our readers outside the US, unfortunately this one is just for the Americans for now. But who knows? Maybe the evident success on that side of the pond will see these innovations spread around the globe.
