Fast & Furious fans based in London might be treated to a special food delivery as part of a new promotion from a popular food delivery app.

To mark the rollout of pan-Asian restaurant chain wagamama on Uber Eats, the two food staples have teamed up to bring some excitement to your usual meal delivery.

This month, the food app and the beloved restaurant chain have hired a special driver who could deliver your food in a jiffy and ensure it’s still piping hot once it reaches your door. This driver isn’t just any driver — we’re talking about Ollie Evans, the 2019 British Drift Champion and 2022 DriftPro Champion, who will give some lucky Londoners a taste of drifting, the Japanese underground motorsport celebrated in 2006 movie The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

Londoners ordering their fresh wagamama fix next week could have it delivered in a special vehicle with Evans behind the wheel. Inspired by the neon-drenched aesthetic of Tokyo’s underground racing scene, your chicken katsu curry, gyozas and bang bang cauliflower could arrive in a 1998 Toyota Chaser wrapped in a chrome red metallic finish complete with black flame graphics, oversized aero styling, and star-studded wheels.

Of course, Evans will leave the actual drifting for closed racetracks and comply with UK speed limits, but still, it'd be pretty cool to have your order sorted by a drifting master in an iconic car.

If you’re not in London, fret not as a coveted prize might come your way. Anyone across the UK — not just the capital — ordering wagamama via Uber Eats is up for a chance of winning a year’s worth of free wagamama food for up to £2,000. The prize is guaranteed to sort your takeaway nights for a while, provided you pass a ‘food-inspired high octane test of nerve’.

Ballot winners will get the chance to experience professional drift driving first-hand from the passenger seat of the Toyota Chaser, tackling a food-inspired challenge at an iconic racetrack.

Merve Basci, General Manager at Uber Eats UK, said in a press release: "Great food deserves memorable moments. As wagamama reaches more homes than ever through Uber Eats, we wanted to celebrate in a way that's as bold and energetic as the food itself. Drift Deliveries turns an everyday order into something completely unexpected."

Mark Chambers, CEO at wagamama UK, added: “wagamama has always been about serving fresh food, cooked to order and full of flavour. Launching on Uber Eats means even more people across the UK can enjoy their favourite dishes, wherever they are. To celebrate, we wanted to do something that captured the energy and passion behind the food while staying true to our Japanese roots. Drift Deliveries brings together speed, spectacle and culture to mark the occasion in a way that's unmistakably wagamama.”
