Starbucks shares update on viral Bearista cups following anger online

The adorable cups flew off the shelves when they were released last month

Starbucks has shared an update on *those* viral Bearista cups after customers were left disappointed last month.

The coffee chain dropped its latest festive merchandise in November, but there seemed to be way more demand than stock would allow.

The adorable 20-ounce cup, which is shaped like a teddy bear, comes with a lid and straw that, when attached, make it look as if the bear is wearing a beanie.

It's very cute, which probably explains why Starbucks fans went WILD for the limited edition cup.

The product was so in demand that Starbucks customers flocked to stores to get their hands on them, only to be left disappointed.

“Not cool marketing Starbucks to only have 1-2 at each store and allow your baristas to buy them before customers,” one fan claimed.

"You should have had additional stock for your baristas and at least 10-20 for each store. People camped out all night to not even get one.”

Another customer claimed they actually drove to their local Starbucks at 4am and still couldn't get hold of one.

“If you are going to excite people over this then make sure ALL stores have supply. So many people are disappointed," they wrote.

“The excitement for our merchandise exceeded even our biggest expectations and despite shipping more Bearista cups to coffeehouses than almost any other merchandise item this holiday season, the Bearista cup and some other items sold out fast,” Starbucks told People at the time.

“We understand many customers were excited about the Bearista cup and apologize for the disappointment this may have caused.”

Now, Starbucks has issued an update for those who missed out.

Although the cups are not being restocked, customers have another chance to get their paws on one by playing the Starbucks for Life game, which started on 8 December.

Alongside the Bearista cup, other prizes can be won, such as gift cards and even free Starbucks for life.

"Your chance is in the Starbucks app. Tomorrow, 12/8," Starbucks said, before later confirming to USA Today that the chance would be via the Starbucks for Life game.

The game takes place annually and sees members receive prizes for playing. This year, it will run from 8 December until 4 January.

According to Starbucks, there'll be 600 Bearista cups to win every day as well as free Starbucks for a year, free Starbucks for life, free food and drink and Starbucks gift cards.
