Marco Pierre White has lifted the lid on his rumoured feud with former protegeé Gordon Ramsay, revealing why he allegedly cut communication with the star for so long.
The culinary kings’ friendship began when The Hell’s Kitchen favourite began working at White’s London restaurant, Harveys. However, after three years of shared service, their relationship hit a bump after the businessman allegedly made Ramsay cry during his final service in 1989.
In an interview with The Times, White, 64, confirmed that he did make the 59-year-old ‘crack’, but denied long-standing rumours that the pair fought over fish or that Ramsay was in his way in the kitchen that evening.
He also used the opportunity to dispel any rumours that he tried to sabotage the chef’s move to Le Gavroche.

“I got Gordon his job at Le Gavroche. It was me who arranged it. Why would I f*** up his job if he was leaving? Tell the truth,” he informed the publication.
Why White and Ramsay stopped speaking
White admitted to the outlet the real reason why he and the father-of-six stopped speaking to each other all together.
Apparently, it was because he brought television cameras to his 2000 wedding to his third wife, Mati Conejero, at The Belvedere restaurant in Holland Park, London.
“Would you be happy if I brought a camera crew to your wedding? Why bring it up? Let sleeping dogs lie. Not clever.”
Earlier this year, White appeared on Louis Theroux’s titular podcast, announcing that he and Ramsay had officially buried the hatchet.

“I liked Gordon. He was kind. He worked hard for me,” he stated.
Why Jamie Oliver was ‘removed’ from documentary series
Elsewhere in the Times interview, White revealed exactly why he had Jamie Oliver hoisted out of his new documentary series, The Rise of the Rockstar Chef.
The BBC programme stars the maverick alongside Hamsay and Heston Blumenthal, but Oliver was originally tapped to take part.
White told the outlet that Ramsay contacted him to get involved, but was hesitant to say yes because of The Naked Chef’s involvement.
His reasoning: Ramsay, Blumenthal, and he had all earned Michelin stars; Oliver had not.
“Jamie has no stars. He belongs to a different jigsaw,” he confessed.

When did White and Ramsay start speaking again?
The Express reported that The F Word icon and White began talking again during the COVID-19 lockdown, with the former apologising for his past actions.
“Everybody falls out somewhere down the line. It’s just how you make up. That’s the most important thing,” he said, the outlet reported.
“So, I’ve got so much respect for that man. He gave me so much at such a young age, and is still a guiding light.”
The Rise of the Rockstar Chef is set to air on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer on 5 November.
