Pub launches first ever Guinness milkshake and it’s an absolute game-changer

This one is not for the faint-stomached.

Guinness is very much in vogue. The iconic flavour, creamy texture, and hint of heaviness that helps to pace you through a night at the pub have won over young millennials and Gen Zers.

The hype has spawned a regularly-spotted pub trend of ‘splitting the G’, too, whereby the Guinness drinker takes a few swigs in succession whilst gauging the right amount to leave the meniscus sitting somewhere between the Guinness logo’s ‘G’.

Of course, you need to be drinking at the kind of quality establishment that has branded glasses, else you’re just chugging a beer that’s best consumed in sips.

If you’re a regular G splitter and you’ve got an adventurous spirit, the Irish stout-maker’s just revealed a riff on the classic that sounds both awful and potentially incredible.

From June 9th 2025, head to Black Tap in Soho and Westfield Stratford to try out an official Guinness milkshake. A 0.0% version is available along with the boozy option, and both sound… interesting, to say the least.

With half a pint of Guinness as the base topped with chocolate milkshake, the rest is then fashioned with a massive swirl of whipped cream, a frosted vanilla rim that’s been rolled in white chocolate chips, and topped with a drizzle of chocolate sauce.

It sounds incredibly indulgent, but also like it will definitely work? The bitterness from the stout should pair well with the sweetness of the chocolate, and Guinness’s signature creaminess should mean the milkshakey texture won’t be completely alien.

Still, blending booze and dairy is rarely a fantastic idea, although we’re sure the geniuses at Guinness know what they’re doing.

If you want to make the most of the experience, you can go a step further with the Guinness CrazyShake®, which includes the regular Guinness milkshake along with a homemade slice of Guinness chocolate cake, and a chocolate brownie for good measure.

It’s available for a limited time, so be sure to head down to Black Tap Soho on Dean Street, or Black Tap Westfield Stratford either on or soon after the 9th of June to make sure you don’t miss out.

You likely won’t have experienced anything quite like it before, especially if you go for the CrazyShake. You might have thought a regular Guinness was filling, but you’ll likely be pretty stuffed with all that cream and cake on top of the usual heavy stout.

What’s a summer without a bit of indulgent novelty?
