Tom Cruise might be best known for his roles in film, ranging from Top Gun to Mission Impossible, but he's also weirdly linked to one sweet treat.
The actor is said to be a fan of gifting a White Chocolate Coconut Bundt Cake from a specific Californian bakery, with many of his A-list friends receiving one every year - making it the ultimate Hollywood status symbol.
Doan’s Bakery, the US bakery behind the viral cake, has now been forced to recall the popular cake, which is distributed across the US via distributor Goldbelly.

A recall published by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Wednesday 1 October, has revealed the bakery has recalled the cake due to undeclared wheat and milk allergens. The bakery has recalled the White Chocolate version as well as their Carrot Bundt Cake.
The announcement reads: "Doan’s Bakery of Woodland Hills, CA is recalling White Chocolate Coconut and Carrot Bundt Cakes because they may contain undeclared wheat and milk. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat and/or milk run the risk of experiencing a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume these products."
It continued: "This issue was discovered during a routine facility inspection on September 24, 2025. Doan’s Bakery took immediate corrective action, and updated labeling is now in place across all affected products. No allergic reactions or illnesses have been reported in connection with this matter, to date.
"This voluntary recall is being made with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration."

The cake has become synonymous with Cruise, who often gifts it to his friends including fellow Hollywood stars. Actor Glen Powell shared his excitement last year when he received the gift.
On his Instagram Stories, he shared a photo of the cake's decorative white and gold packaging as he told fans: "The Cruise cake has arrived..."
Powell and Cruise are said to have formed a friendship when they both starred in 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick, as Lt. Jake 'Hangman' Seresin, and Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell.

Powell went on to rave about the cake in a talk show appearance as he praised it as 'the most delicious cake you’ve ever had'.

In 2023 actress Brooke Shields spoke about being 'removed' from the list, after previously receiving it for over a decade.
She explained: "I was on the list for a while. I had a good 10-year run. I got the coconut cake every year, which I was very happy [about]."

She added that the cake was usually sent from Cruise as well as his then-wife Katie Holmes and their daughter Suri. She continued: "Then soon it was no Suri and no Katie and just Tom. Then it went from just Tom for a while, but not every holiday. And then the cake stopped."
