Piers Morgan has been taken to hospital after dining at a hotel restaurant in London, with celebrities such as Lorraine Kelly and Eamonn Holmes sharing support.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday (18 January), the journalist, 60, wrote that he’d ‘tripped on a small step inside a London hotel restaurant’.
He did not name the establishment, but remarked that as he tripped, he ‘fell like a sack of spuds’ and fractured the neck of his thigh bone (femur).
After being taken to hospital, Morgan learned the fall was so bad that he needed a hip replacement.

The father-of-three is now recovering in expert care and faces a long six weeks on crutches.
He apparently will not be able to fly long-haul for up to 12 weeks.

“New Year off to a cracking start!” he said, joking: “I blame Donald Trump.”

Taking to Instagram to share his condolences, Holmes, who had a double hip replacement back in 2016, wrote: “Well, sincere sympathy my friend but I am the expert in this field …. if u want advice or a visitor ! Lucozade and Grapes?”
Lorraine Kelly commented: “You daft bugger - hope you are OK!”
“Recovering just in time for cricket season in the UK! Heal up fast!” replied South African cricketer Dale Steyn.
Morgan’s injury was soon a topic of discussion on Good Morning Britain, with Susanna Reid, Ed Balls, and Kate Garraway weighing in.

During the chat, the trio speculated whether the former ITV host had been drinking before his injury.
In response, he shared a video of the discussion with his 2.5 million Instagram followers and wrote: “Zero alcohol was involved in the incident.”

Morgan has previously been candid about his health, informing his social media fans in 2019 that he’d been hospitalised with stomach gastritis and duodenitis.

After undergoing a gastroscopy, he wrote: "I blame eating a mouthful of vegan sausage roll, Brexit & Donald Trump.”
"Bad news: I'm not dying. I can only apologise for all the distress I know this will cause some people," he added, alongside a picture of himself in a hospital gown.
A year later, Morgan revealed he was on crutches after tearing a tendon in his leg whilst on a family holiday to Saint Tropez.
"Peg-leg. (Nothing like tearing a tendon on day two of a six-week holiday),” he remarked.

Earlier this year, Morgan and his wife Celia Walden gave Hello! Magazine a look at their daily diet, which included dairy products like Babybels and cow’s milk, as well as fruits, vegetables, and bone broth.

According to Bone Broth Bros website, bone broth aids digestion, promotes a healthy gut, helps with joint mobility and works as an anti-inflammatory.
During the interview, the Uncensored host admitted he struggles to ‘give up’ alcoholic beverages such as red wine, as well as ultraprocessed snacks like pork pies.
He also revealed his favourite food combination: a cheddar cheese and marmalade sandwich.
“Fantastic. Everyone will go 'yuck' until they try it, and then they'll go: 'Wow, Morgan's a culinary genius’,” he told the publication.
