Hailey Bieber has hilarious reaction to trying divisive British staple for first time

Bless her for trying...

Rightly or wrongly, British food isn't always celebrated around the world, and Hailey Bieber is the latest star to try some staple foods.

The model and business woman tried a sample of Brit delicacies in a face-off against some of the more familiar US counterparts.

Scones versus Krispy Kremes, while the humble Monster Munch takes on Flamin' Hot Cheetos.

It was one pairing in particular that put Hailey to the test, and fans have been raving about her reaction.

The star gave everything a good go, but when one British staple was paired with a classic PB+J, even she couldn't lie and say that she liked it despite her best efforts.

A nervous Hailey was presented with the finest of delicacies: a Marmite sandwich.

Thick white bread with the crusts cut off, and a slathered layer of Marmite, which was long been divisive even amongst Brits, with the tagline of 'You either love it or hate it' acknowledging that fact.

When asked if she knew what Marmite was, she replied "I've heard of it!" and compared it to Vegemite.

It was explained that the spread is made from yeast extract - yum! - and she examined the sandwich, joking "I'm scared!", before taking a bite.

Her face then said more than a thousand words ever could as the taste kicked in, and she was offered a tissue.

"Oh no, no, no, I don't want to be that dramatic," she insisted, before changing her mind: "You guys, I'm so sorry I have to spit this out."

"I was so not expecting that... it's very strong," she said, before coughing.

"You know what I will say is it does feel like a thing you'd have to grow up with to understand," she said kindly.

"Maybe on a little toast with butter?" she suggested.

Commenters praised Hailey for her response to the challenge.

"She's so polite when disliking the other one!" wrote one.

"Marmite should indeed be had on toast with butter. Same for Vegemite. My wife and I love both, but would never eat a sandwich with a full layer like that!" agreed one viewer.

Others defended her, even as fans of the stuff: "That much Marmite in a sandwich is extreme and I am a lover of Marmite. Much better on buttered toast!"

"You cannot compare marmite to PB & J. What sane person is picking marmite?," asked another.

"She was SO polite about that Marmite" added one, while several other praised the fact she actually tried things and took proper bites.
