If you’ve ever been to a McDonald’s before 10am - and there’s no shame in it - you’ll have been treated to its bespoke breakfast menu.
It’s not great news if you had your heart set on a box of Chicken Selects, but the breakfast menu is nevertheless a tasty and filling way to get your day off to the races.
An iconic staple of this early-day selection is the Breakfast Wrap, but it’s become a curiously rare treat.

Complete with a sausage patty, an egg, a rasher of bacon, a potato rosti and some cheese, all wrapped up in a… wrap, this is a hearty and comprehensive breakfast indeed.
Getting hold of one can occasionally be akin to a game of whack-a-mole.
Back in February 2024, the Breakfast Wrap burst back onto the scene for a happy but brief visit to the menu. Within a few days, it had been put back on the bench.
It’s since made another comeback for £4.99, and you can expand that out to a meal if you fancy it, but the much-loved Breakfast Wrap has now got a reputation for unexpectedly flaking on breakfast plans.
"The Breakfast Wrap being back at Maccies is the greatest thing to happen for years," said one social media user when it first made its 2024 return.
"Uber Eat’s drivers will have dropped off McDonald’s Breakfast Wraps to half the population this morning," said another person.
They might not have been far wrong, as the Breakfast Wrap had to be briefly pulled over the massive demand.
"Due to an unprecedented demand, McDonald’s has had to temporarily remove the Breakfast Wrap from the menu, to avoid running out of all wider breakfast items," McDonald’s explained.
It turns out you can certainly have too much of a good thing, not least when a Breakfast Wrap is swiftly hunted to extinction.

Thankfully it seems supply is more than ready to meet demand in March 2025, with the Breakfast Wrap back on the menu and looking as delicious as ever.
It’s not the only beloved breakfast menu option to fall by the wayside over the years.
The Breakfast Bagel was wiped off the face of the menu in 2022, but unlike the Wrap it doesn’t seem as though it will be coming back soon.
McDonald’s confirmed to the Liverpool Echo that "There are currently no plans for this.”
Beggars can’t be choosers, but at least the Breakfast Wrap is here to mop up the tears.
