Halloween is right around the corner, and Oreo has brought back its viral ‘glow-in-the-dark’ biscuits for the holidays—and apparently they are causing major confusion for sweet treat fans.
Brands across the globe are in the middle of celebrating everything fall and All Hallows’ Eve. Starbucks recently debuted new ghoulish delights; Trader Joe’s is still teaming with pumpkin spice-flavoured favourites; and Costco launched an icy, lip-smacking take on apple pie that customers can snap up for just $2.99.
Oreo is also getting in the swing of things, launching its latest varieties: Spooky Colored Creme and Boo cookies.
According to a press release seen by People Magazine, the Spooky Colored Creme includes a dual layer of bright orange and green filling between its signature chocolate wafers.

The biscuits, all adorned with Halloween-themed designs, are perfect for handing out to trick-or-treaters this season, given that they come in individual snack packs.
Boo cookies are also back. They’re a limited-edition treat with bright orange filling featuring six festive designs.
Both are mysteriously branded with ‘glow-in-the-dark’ claims, which is apparently setting social media users off, causing confusion.
“Glow in the dark Oreos?,” one X user questioned, while another said: “I was today years old when I found out that the Halloween Oreos glow in the dark even though it literally says they do on the package.”

“Colour-changing Oreos is so insane this has to make your stomach glow in the dark or something idk,” a third commented.
Understandably, questions have been raised about what ingredients have been added to the delight to make them glow in the dark.
But don’t fret; it is actually the Oreo packaging that glows in the dark, rather than the biscuit itself.
More Halloween-themed US treats
Excitingly, Oreo’s parent company, Mondelez International, has put two more spooky season treats on shelves: BelVita Pumpkin Breakfast Biscuits and Chips Ahoy! Mystery Cookie.
The latter, released earlier this year, is a soft, chewy delight that prompts fans to speculate on its flavour.
Customers can submit flavour guesses online or via QR code and win a $25,000 grand prize.

The official flavour reveal is scheduled for Halloween, according to reports.
BelVita Pumpkin Breakfast Biscuits are described as being ‘light, sweet and crunchy’ with a strong pumpkin flavour.
A 50-gram serving contains 19 grams of whole grain, three grams of fibre, and B vitamins, as per People Magazine.
McDonald’s has also released Boo Buckets featuring imagery of some favourite Disney villain characters: Jafar from Aladdin, Ursula from The Little Mermaid, The Lion King’s Scar, Cruella from One Hundred and One Dalmatians, and Maleficent.
Each mystery pail comes with stickers featuring ‘iconic characters and details true fans will recognise’, according to McDonald’s.
