Kayem Foods is recalling more than 1.5 million pounds of meat and poultry products sold under various brand names due to improper storage temperatures.
On 17 October, the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced a nationwide Class I recall of items from the company produced between 31 March and 7 October 2027.
Honey-roasted ham, ready-to-eat frankfurters, slow-smoked bacon, and apple maple chicken breakfast sausages are just some of the 1,584,361 impacted products.
Other items included Kayem-branded bologna and beef hot dogs, Triple M boneless ham steaks, and McKenzie liverwurst. See all labels here.

In a notice, the FSIS noted that the Chelsea, Massachusetts business’s items bear the establishment numbers ‘EST. M/P 7839’, ‘EST. P 20935A’, and EST. M 9520’.
The establishment numbers can be found inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Recalled products have been shipped to retail and foodservice locations nationwide, and also in Hong Kong; the recall statement confirmed.
A full list of products and UPC code numbers for products distributed from the US location can be found here.
Health officials issued the recall after learning that a customer contacted the firm with a complaint on 1 October about ‘warm product temperatures at point of delivery’.
The complaint launched an investigation; Kayem Foods learned various ready-to-eat meat and poultry products had been stored in a warehouse ‘cooler that experienced temperature deviations’, thus issuing the Class I recall.
Delish reported that despite the mass recall, no illnesses have been reported in connection.
“FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ refrigerators. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them,” the notice reads.

As a result, the health officials have advised customers not to eat any of the affected products and to bin them or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
Those concerned about health issues should contact their healthcare provider immediately.
