Some of Britain’s favourite pre-packaged fruit snacks could be contaminated with a ‘deadly’ bacteria that could lead to serious illness, health officials have warned.

Surprisingly, recall notices aren’t as few and far between as you would think.

Currently, there are more than a handful of live across the UK, including Buttermilk Honeycomb Blast chocolate bars and Krispy Kreme’s Pitch Perfect Doughnut, both of which contain undeclared allergens.

And the latest to hit the news is that a plethora of grab-and-go fruit pots may contain Salmonella, which can cause fatal food poisoning in rare cases.

The Food Agency has warned consumers that there was a ‘possible presence of Salmonella’ in the pre-packaged fruit pots and that customers should not eat them.

Instead, it’s advised that anyone in possession of the potentially contaminated items should return them to where they were purchased for a full refund.

The Express reported that point-of-sale notices will be displayed in all the retail stores selling the items, including an explanation on why they are being rounded up.

Salmonella symptoms

Symptoms of Salmonella, usually caused by eating raw or undercooked meat, alongside poultry, eggs, or egg products, include stomach pains, fever, and diarrhoea, as per the Cleveland Clinic.

Other prevalent symptoms are high temperatures and nausea.

The NHS states that if you or your child has food poisoning, then it’s likely you can treat it at home by drinking lots of fluids, getting plenty of rest, and eating when you feel able to.

It’s advised that you avoid drinking fruit juice or fizzy drinks as this can make diarrhoea worse.

Supermarkets impacted by Salmonella recall

13 fruit packs have been recalled across Britain due to the possible presence of Salmonella.

These include pots sold on the shelves of ASDA, Morrisons, Tesco, Waitrose, M&S, and Sainsbury’s.

There’s just one recalled ASDA item: a 220g pot containing Pink Lady Apple slices, mango, strawberries and blueberries.

Items are stamped with 23 and 24 June 2026 use by dates.

Morrisons

Like ASDA, officials have directed that a single fresh fruit punnet be hauled from Morrisons shelves.

Consumers are also advised to avoid 225g Pink Lady Apple Slices sold at M&S stores. Like the other items, these also carry 24 June 2026 use-by notes.
