The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued an alert as Moma Foods recalls various porridge pots and sachets due to a possible mouse contamination.
The British brand, aquired by AG Barr for £3.4 million in 2022, is understood to have recalled nine of its products, including banana and peanut protein porridge as the FSA warned they ‘may contain mouse contamination making them unsafe to eat’.
A spokesperson for Moma told The Grocer: “Even though the chance of contamination of any of the above products being affected is low, we have taken this precautionary step to ensure the safety of our consumers.
“Any consumers who have purchased affected Moma porridge products are asked not to consume them.

Moma Foods, founded in 2006 by Tom Mercer, started life as a small stall serving up premium porridge and smoothies to South East London commuters.

Following AG Barr’s aquasition, managing director Peter Joubert told Just-Drinks: “We’re still a relatively small player but we are on a mission to get oat milk into more baskets and more people’s cupboards across the UK.
“Our unique position of being the craft oats company is we really focus on taste and quality and being British.”
As well as porridge, the brand sells oat drinks, overnight oats and tinned iced coffee.
