'Insanely good' fried chicken chain that's 'rapidly' taking over UK

It is opening its seventh spot next year

If you’ve sat and stared at multiple menus and wondered why there’s nothing new and exciting popping up in the UK, hold your horses.

A new Korean chicken chain is about to open its seventh location amid 'rapid' expansion, and people can’t contain their excitement.

I, for one, am very excited that Korean food is taking off in the UK, with Kimchi, ramen noodles, snacks and soju making their way to supermarket shelves.

But now, restaurants are popping up all over the place, offering everything from hot pots, to bibimbap and japchae.

However, if Korean culture is known for anything, it’s their love of fried chicken, and boy is it different than anything you’ve ever tasted.

Now, if you’ve never heard of KoKoDoo, you’re going to want to know why people are loving it and claim it's ‘the best chicken’ they’ve ever eaten.

Jurassicfoodies on Instagram visited KoKoDoo at Temple Quay Market, calling the portions ‘on point’ as they tried the ‘insanely good’ honey glazed chicken with rice.

People under the comments agreed that it looks ‘delicious!’, and honestly, it really does.

Founded in 2016 by Mary and Joseph Yoon, the menu has always resonated with customers who can’t get enough of its glazed wings and Korean Fried Burgers (that’s KFC for short).

At the moment, KoKoDoo has four London sites in in Shoreditch, Camberwell, Harrow and Chiswick, and then sites in Bristol and Swansea, which are all franchised locations.

However, from January 2026 the Korean fried chicken shop will open at Fulham Broadway, which will be its first company-owned area.

Back in April, Managing Director Joe Yoon told Propel that this is just the beginning of the chain's expansion plans, saying there are ambitions to 'scale rapidly'.

"We haven’t yet had the chance to open a company-owned location, so this launch is a key milestone for us, after which we’ll fully resume our franchise expansion plans," he said.

So, why do people love it so much in the UK?

Well, according to people who have been to a location and tasted the crunchy chicken, it’s a spot-on meal with good portions.

One person online reviewed their order by raving: “Kokodoo always hits the spot! I would love to have it every day but have to be disciplined!! I would definitely recommend!!!”

Another wrote: “Great quality, tasty food that never fails to hit the spot!!

A customer ordered their meal on New Year’s Eve and claimed it was the perfect thing to end 2024, writing: “Fantastic meal to finish off the year! I was looking forward to it as I’d heard Kokodoo’s food was great and I wasn’t disappointed! I will definitely order again and would recommend to anyone!”

Well, now I know what I’m eating on New Year’s Eve this December...
