Jamie Oliver confirms eldest daughter Poppy is engaged to long-term boyfriend

Jamie Oliver and his wife Jools have announced that their eldest daughter, Poppy Honey, is engaged to her ‘soulmate’ and longtime boyfriend, Ben Newman.

On Wednesday (5 August), former model Jools Oliver, 51, shared a video on Instagram. It featured an image and video compilation of her 24-year-old daughter, Poppy, and her partner.

“Probably one of my favourite reels so far. Our first baby Poppy Honey is getting married,” Oliver’s wife, Jools, wrote via Instagram.

“We are so excited, proud and happy. Ben we all adore you. Little did I know as we moved Pop in to her second house at University, whilst I was sweating over your shoe rack flat pack you seemed very distracted with the boy who had just moved in next door.

“5 years later you had met you soul mate. So excited for the next chapter. Love you xxx.”

Celebrity friends and fans alike have shared heartfelt congratulations, including The Body Coach Joe Wicks: “What a beautiful moment. Loved that,” he gushed. “Congratulations Poppy.”

TV presenter Jimmy Doherty said: “This is fantastic @joolsoliver and @jamieoliver massive congratualtions @poppyoliver love from the Doherty’s.”

“Love this SO much, it was such wonderful news, made me cry. Love them both,” said Sally Oliver, Jamie’s mum and former owner of The Cricketers where her son learned to cook.

Someone else said: “Congratulations Poppy!!!! How wonderful for you all! A wedding!”

Poppy’s famous father, Jamie, 51, re-shared his spouse’s video to his Instagram Stories and wrote: “Happy engagement my baby girl Poppy and Ben. I’m so pleased for you both.. What a wonderful moment.”

The father-of-five followed the heartfelt tribute up with a selfie featuring him, Poppy and Jools, whom he married in 2000.

Last April, the celebrity chef spoke to People Magazine about juggling his public career with being a father to Poppy, as well as Daisy, 23, Petal, 17, Buddy, 15, and River, nine. The latter is set to turn 10 on 8 August.

“Being the kids of Jamie Oliver is also tricky. Depending on the kid and their personality, some of them are super embarrassed of me. They don’t want me to pick them up from school, God forbid, say anything,” he stated.

“I don’t think being us is easy, and that I’m not complaining, I’m just saying it’s getting the balance,.

“Just the attention of your dad being known, normally for the right reasons, is embarrassing when you’re a teenage girl. But now I’ve got a 22 and a 23-year-old and they fully handle it; they’ve got it down.”
