Alan Ritchson shares 'disgusting' go-to cheesesteak topping and sparks heated debate

Reacher actor Alan Ritchson has seemingly ruffled feathers after detailing exactly how he likes to dress his Philly cheesesteak, seriously dividing his fans into two factions.

It may surprise you to hear, but celebrities are just like us: they, like us, enjoy weird and wild food combinations too.

Hailey Bieber is obsessed with drinking olive oil and lemon juice shots; Reese Witherspoon turns two heads of romaine lettuce, a handful of spinach, and a whole lemon into a skin-saving smoothie every morning; and JD Vance tends to pair fermented food with a bunless beef burger.

Meanwhile, Ritchson, who rose to prominence portraying Aquaman on the DC series Smallville, is the latest famous face to join the cohort with an interesting food combo of his own.

His unique union, involving Philly cheesesteaks, saw fans claiming the go-to had ‘absolutely’ never been on their radar.

In case you don’t know, a Philly cheesesteak is a meaty American delicacy made with thinly sliced pieces of beefsteak, often ribeye and melted cheese stuffed into a long hoagie roll.

The popular lunch staple is so beloved that it was rumoured to have appeared on the menu of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding, courtesy of actor Bradley Cooper.

Ritchson is another firm fan, with the 43-year-old taking to social media to reveal exactly how he customises his Phillysteak.

But it seems as if his fans aren’t quite sure of what to make of the mixture.

In a clip uploaded to social media, the father-of-two and his friend, Nick, first discussed putting mayonnaise in tuna.

This prompted the Motor City star to admit he also likes to put the condiment on his Philly cheesesteak.

When ordering it, he said he liked ‘double meat, double cheese, double mayo’.

In the Instagram video’s caption, Ritchson wrote: “Mayo or no mayo on Philly!? Fight to the death in the comments below. Exonerate me!”

Unsurprisingly, fans and celebrities alike have been having their say, with rapper Armani White commenting: “Philadelphia Correspondent here: Mayo very much belongs on a Philly Cheesesteak roll. Please direct all further questions to Jim’s or Ishkabibbles.”

“Always mayo!!! Makes everything better!,” someone else replied.

A third said: “Bro I stand with you on team Mayo. always. best condiment ever made.”

Others aren’t as convinced, with another Instagram user typing that the combination was 'disgusting'.

“Simply put…HELL NO," a second said.

“It’s a just called a cheesesteak. Not a Philly cheesesteak. 2. Mayo on a cheesesteak?! Straight to jail,” echoed a third.

A fellow critic penned: “I won’t judge others but mayo won’t be on MY cheesesteaks BUT my go to saltpepperketchup is a must.”
