For most of her life, Ananda Sarita couldn’t escape the burning, itching misery of eczema.
Cracked, swollen hands, constant bleeding and oozing sores were part of her daily reality - and even prescription meds couldn’t fix it.
At one point, she says it was so bad she 'wanted to jump out of my skin,' she told The Tribune.
Doctors handed her cortisone creams, which gave her a bit of relief but never touched the root of the problem.

After trying everything else, she remembered something a homeopath once told her: cut out sugar.
"I’ve never heard that before. Sugar can’t be the cause," she thought at the time. But years later, with nothing to lose, she gave it a go.
Ananda ditched processed sugar completely for one month - no sweet treats, no snacks with hidden sugar, nothing. The first three weeks were hell: shakes, cravings, withdrawal symptoms. But then something incredible happened - her skin started clearing up.

It wasn’t just a fluke. More than 50 percent of people who suffer from eczema have improved their symptoms and overall health by eliminating inflammatory foods from their diet - such as processed sugar, dairy and wheat, she discovered during a deep dive into nutritional research.
Within months, her eczema was gone. Completely. For the first time in her adult life, she wasn’t dealing with red, itchy, painful skin.
"I feel healthy, happy and relieved that the eczema is gone and hasn’t ever come back," she told the publication, adding: "Not having to deal with the burning, itching and sores that eczema left on my skin is totally worth giving up sugar for!"

She still avoids processed sugar to this day, and when cravings hit, she goes for fruit instead. No prescription, no expensive creams - just one bold diet change that gave her her life back.
Turns out, giving up sugar wasn’t just good for her skin - it made her love food even more. "Everything tastes so much better," she said.
Not everyone’s eczema journey is the same, but if you’re struggling like Ananda was, maybe it’s time to read the label before your next sugar fix.
