Pret launches new £4.99 meal deal
There’s a new meal deal on the market, and this time it’s Pret stepping up to the plate with a £4.99 offering.
Head into almost all your favourite British supermarket chains, including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Co-op, and you’re likely to find a lunchtime promotion affectionately known as a meal deal.
Often, this consists of a main, a snack, and a drink for a single fixed price.
Outside of supermarkets, the traditional bundle isn’t as common. The likes of Greggs and McDonald’s are probably your best bets, with the former offering the ‘Big Deal’ for around £6.

Pret A Manger is now part of the elite cohort thanks to the introduction of its new ‘Pick Your Pair’ promotion.
The idea is that ravenous customers head into the store and pick up two items from the company’s autumn menu for £4.99.
Anyone who wants to eat their items in is expected to pay an extra £1—bringing the total meal deal cost to £5.99, according to reports
Unlike a traditional meal deal, Pret’s version features two lighter mains such as half baguettes, soups, salads, and protein pots. No drinks or are included.
“When it comes to lunchtime, we know our customers don’t want to compromise between taste, variety, and value, so that’s what we’ve focused on delivering for autumn,” said Matt Bresnahan, chief marketing officer at Pret.
“After a great response to our Pick your Pair summer trial, we’re excited to expand this new platform nationally, giving everyone the freedom to build the lunch they want for under £5.”

Metro reported that you can pick two of the same item and that the Pick Your Pair promotion cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or discount.

Pick Your Pair launches alongside a brand-new autumnal menu, featuring Banana Cinnamon Porridge and a delicious Toasted Marshmallow drinks range.
Warm Ciabattas
This autumn’s hero product is Pret’s Warm Ciabatta range.
Pick from three flavours: Chicken Caesar Bacon, Beef Birria & Jalapeño, or Three Cheese & Tomato.
New morning favourite
Breakfast runs just got a little bit sweeter thanks to the introduction of the new Banana Cinnamon Porridge, topped with a sprinkling of brown sugar, and the 144-calorie side porridge.
Sandwiches have arrived
A Mediterranean-style Tuna half flatbread and half Classic Super Club sandwhich can now be picked up in participating stores.
Salads and sides
Fancy something a little lighter? This autumn, there’s a Butternut & Hummus side salad and a Classic Green side salad to choose from.
Hot food counter
From 11.30, Pret customers will be able to sample the delights of the Spinach and Feta Pastry.
It’s a flaky, golden pastry filled with spinach and creamy feta cheese, topped with a seed mix for a little extra crunch. Yum!
Incoming soups include the Butter Chicken, Creamy Roast Chicken, Lasagne, and large Mushroom Risotto.
Sweet items Pret autumn menu
In terms of sweet treats, customers can buy a Loaded Chocolate Chunk Banana Bread, Chocolate Hazelnut Praline and Triple Chocolate Cookies.
All pair well with a Toasted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate and Toasted Marshmallow Latte.
The latter combines espresso with steamed milk and a light layer of foam with toasted marshmallow flavour.
Each cup is finished with a swirl of marshmallow-flavoured whipped cream.
Pret, like Starbucks, has also brought back its Pumpkin Spice Latte for another year.
