Donald Trump has delivered a scathing four-word verdict on his ‘tacky’ viral McDonald’s delivery to the Oval Office.
On Monday (13 April), a DoorDash driver named Sharon Simmons, 58, rocked up to the White House wearing a ‘DoorDash Grandma’ T-shirt to deliver bags of fast-food into the US President’s hands.
The Arkansas native, who was tipped $100 for her hard work, explained to Trump, 79, that his ‘no tax on tips policy’, included in the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill Act’, had helped her earn $11,000.
The viral moment saw the grandmother-of-ten claiming: “It's good. It has helped my family out immensely and I definitely appreciate it.”

Three days later, Trump came clean about the moment, describing it as ‘a little embarrassing’.
“Earlier this week at the White House I met a wonderful woman named Sharon Simmons - a grandmother driving for DoorDash to help support her husband’s cancer treatments,” he began.

“He’s got serious cancer. He’s going to be okay. I think.
“Sharron delivered McDonald’s to the Oval Office,” the Republican continued.
“To be honest… this was a little tacky. They come up with these crazy ideas… We do these things in politics. They are a little embarrasing.”
The father-of-five said that even though the staged delivery retrieval was cringey, it was acts like those that helped politicians win ‘by landslides’.
Trump went on to describe the DoorDash driver as a ‘very beautiful woman’ whose job it was to hold ‘two big bags of McDonald’s hamburgers’.
“And I say: is this really believable? But the point of it was she made $11,000 that she had no idea was coming and it was really great.”
According to Simmons, working for DoorDash has allowed her to ‘provide for [her] family while keeping the schedule that works best for [her], something [she] never thought would be possible’.
“Now No Tax on Tips has taken things to the next level, letting me keep more of the tips I earn and deserve,” she added.
Despite the President feeling ‘embarrassed’ by the showcase, Steven Cheung, White House communications director shared his appreciation for the Trump administration’s fast-food order.
Taking to social media after the McDonald’s had been delivered, he shared an image of a half-eaten cheeseburger.
“Couldn’t wait. Had to dig in,” the 43-year-old wrote.
Trump’s affiliation with McDonald’s runs deep, having served customers during his 2024 Presidential campaign trial and more recently ordering burgers to celebrate the Men’s Olympic Ice Hockey team picking up gold at the Milano-Cortina Games.

In the past, he also uploaded an image of himself, Elon Musk, Robert F. Kennedy, Don Trump Jr., and Mike Johnson sharing items like a Filet-O-Fish onboard Air Force One.
Ivanka Trump, 44, has also posed for photographs with her famous father, eating items from the Maccies menu.
Last November, Trump spoke at the McDonald’s Impact Summit in Washington, where he implored food officials to ‘add a little bit more tartar sauce’ to his beloved fish burger.
“I like the fish. I like it. You could do a little bit more tartar sauce, though, please. Seriously,” he quipped.
