A woman celebrated her 100th birthday in truly iconic style, having taken inspiration from her own life motto to mark the moment in a very fitting way.

Whether it's a bottle or two of champagne, a trip away or a small get-together, there are so many ways you could decide to celebrate a milestone birthday.

But Lovie Jacobs, from West Virginia, decided to keep things simple by relying on her all-time favourite food: KFC.

The chain helped the centenarian celebrate over the Labor Day weekend with her very own fried chicken-themed birthday, with the party set up as the ultimate fast food-lover's dream, from a catered feast to KFC decorations to a special gift from the brand.

Jacobs said: “I love KFC because it tastes so good."

Not only does Jacobs adore KFC, she also shares a connection to the brand’s founder, Colonel Harland Sanders, having experienced a similar upbringing.

It turns out she is one of 10 siblings who grew up on a family farm, like the colonel himself, having once had 100 chickens, a large garden and a cellar full of home-canned food.

But how did she go on to live to the impressive age of 100? Well, her secret's simpler than you might think.

Her life motto is one that Colonel Sanders would be proud of: "Live long and eat good.”

Yep, fair to say we can all get on board with that one.

Jacobs added: “My 100th birthday was so special because of the food, along with all my family that was there.”

And it was not just Jacobs who had something to say about the celebration, as it seems the folk from KFC were equally thrilled to be part of her special day.

“Turning 100 calls for a special celebration - and we couldn’t be happier to know that Lovie has chosen KFC as her favourite meal along the way," a KFC spokesperson told People.

Emphasising her life mantra, they added: “Her motto, ‘Live long and eat good’, is one we’ll happily raise a drumstick to.”

When she's not busy being spoilt rotten by her favourite fried chicken chain, Jacobs enjoys getting family visits, as, well as taking part in activities and spending quality time with her friends, at the centre where she lives.

Here's hoping her loved ones treat her to Boneless Banquet her 101st birthday!
