Wendy's launches dark new 'Meal of Misfortune' range

It’s never too summery to get your spook on.

The summertime is the enemy of the goths and emos among us who long for Washington rains, leafless trees, and vitamin D deficiencies.

With that in mind, lurking in the shade are those of us who can’t help but get excited for Spooky Season ahead of time, and Wendy’s has got some great news for those guys.

The masters of the sardonic social media feed have announced a new ‘Meal of Misfortune’ package via a partnership with Netflix’s Wednesday Addams, and it’s on its way long before autumn sets in.

"Designed by Wednesday Addams, the other pig-tailed outcast herself, the limited-time Meal of Misfortune is centered around the 'Dips of Dread,' four inferno-inspired mystery sauces, along with 'Rest in 10-Piece' Nuggets and small 'Cursed & Crispy' Fries," said Wendy’s in its statement announcing the new menu item.

It isn’t just the spooky dips, nuggets and fries on the agenda, however, with a new beverage that ‘only Wednesday could have devised’: the ‘Raven’s Blood’ Frosty.

Wendy’s told Food & Wine that this drink will feature a Vanilla Frosty base, and a ‘delicious dark cherry sauce’. A Chocolate Frosty Base will also be available if that’s your preference.

“No ravens were harmed in the creation of the Raven’s Blood Frosty," said a Wendy's spokesperson.

"Our partnership with Netflix’s hit show Wednesday is a match made in dark, dry-witted heaven, and we wanted to honor Wednesday’s bold voice that fans know and love through every aspect of our collaboration.”

Wendy’s customers who opt for the Raven’s Blood Frosty will be treated to a ‘Spoon of Gloom’ along with a Wednesday-themed Frosty cup emblazoned with the phrase: ‘best served cold, like revenge’.

The so-called ‘Dips of Dread’ are an interesting quirk, with two being included in each meal. However, ‘only fate will decide’ which dips you’ll get, although presumably each dip in the selection is tasty enough to polish off your nuggets.

"Don't bother asking which sauce you'll get — you must surrender to your destiny," said Wendy's.

If all that excitement wasn’t enough, US customers will also be able to enter a $10,000 draw by signing in to ‘Escape from Wednesday’s Woe’ on the Wendy’s app.

"Normally, I'd be against this kind of capitalistic corporate synergy," said Wednesday Addams via Wendy’s.

"But when the fast-food-slinging pigtailed provocateur said I could do whatever I wanted to her customers, I couldn't resist."

Spooky Season officially begins at Wendy’s on 4 August 2025.
