The popular bakery chain that's rapidly expanding across the UK

Excitingly, Britain is becoming inundated with a ‘fast-food’ bakery brand that promises to get a personalised cake into your hands in under seven minutes.

The Indian chain, which opened 13 stores across the country in the last year, reportedly has 56 franchise locations signed and a further 13 shops in the pipeline, including one in Liverpool and another in Pinner.

According to The Mirror, it’s set its sights on opening up stores in Richmond, Cardiff, and Bristol, as well as Potters Bar, Pinner, Fleet, and Southall.

It’s understood that the company will soon take up residence in High Wycombe, Twickenham, and Wokingham.

The sweet treat business, initially founded as an online cake-ordering service, has grown exponentially in the last decade to become India’s biggest bakery brand.

After opening more than 350 outlets in the country, Mumbai’s 7-Minute Live Kitchen, which serves up fresh cakes and mouth-watering pastries right before customers, set its sights on the UK.

Founders and husband and wife, Arjun and Swati Chugh, expanded internationally into Britain for the first time in September 2025.

They picked Wokingham Road, Reading, as the home of the first UK 7th Heaven. The group’s site is led by franchisee Cake & More.

Further sites have since followed in Berkshire, Rugby, Horsham, Wandsworth, Ashford, Aberdeen, Whitton, Cotteridge, Walthamstow, Stanmore, Sale, Hale and Hull, as per the Liverpool Echo.

Cakes are finished and decorated in person

While rivals Gails, Cooplands, and Poundbakery usually have edible items decorated and ready for purchase, 7th Heaven likes to do the finishing touches in front of the customer.

“Unlike other bakery chains that use a central kitchen to bake cakes and then distribute to various outlets, we have a live kitchen in every outlet so that we serve only fresh and soft cakes,” Swati Chugh, Director of 7th Heaven, told Herstory.

“This is a huge hit with our customers because the difference in quality is a distinguishing factor that makes us stand apart from the rest.”

The dessert chain added on its site that this unique selling method helps to ‘create moments that people would cherish forever’.

“At 7th Heaven, every celebration begins with a simple belief - that every cake should be fresh, handcrafted and taste heavenly,” the business said.

Despite claiming that ‘every cake is freshly prepared with love, right before your eyes’, it’s understood that traditional cake mixture is mixed, baked and cooled ahead of time.

Cake components and ingredients are also prepared in advance, allowing bakers to decorate and finish the cake within seven minutes of an order bing placed.

Classic bakes come in 6” or 8” varieties or can be purchased by the slice.

Non-traditional items, such as baked cheesecakes, ring doughnuts, giant macaron cakes, Russian Medovik cake, and pies, are available to purchase in-store.

Items considered ‘supreme cakes’, including L’Opera, an almond sponge cake soaked in coffee syrup, and a decadent 12-layer chocolate cake can also be picked up.
