Thousands of music fans are descending on Vienna this week to experience the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.

Here’s what they will likely be drinking, eating, and spending on provisions.

The 70th edition of the international song competition, organised annually by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), officially touched down in the City of Music yesterday (13 May) with the first of two semi-finals.

On Saturday (16 May), 25 competitors will take part in Saturday’s Grand Final at the Wiener Stadthalle, Austria's largest indoor arena, which can hold up to 16,083 people.

If you’re heading over to Vienna, then you should be aware that there is usually a cup deposit scheme in place at the venue for soft, alcoholic, and alcohol-free drinks.

There’s also VIP food menus to peruse and classic European snacks to indulge in.

The official Eurovision drink prices inside the Wiener Stadthalle are yet to be revealed.

However, the venue, which is hosting NeYo and Akon’s joint concert later this month, usually has various consumables on offer for the gigs, such as a bottle of Gösser Biostoff, organic, Austrian-made lager, for €9.80 (£8.49).

An alcohol-free version costs the same, as does 100m of white or rosé sparkling wine.

Keck Kola, a regional cola beverage, is priced at €8.90 (£7.71), while still and sparkling mineral water is €7.50 (£6.50).

However, one Redditor who recently visited the site said they paid around €4.50 (£3.90) for a bottle and remarked that they were able to take it to their seats.

Red Bull and various Organics canned drinks will cost you €8.60 (£7.45 each) while Gatseiner products are slightly cheaper at €7.70 (£6.67).

Again, these prices are just based on the upcoming concert and are subject to change with the Eurovision Song Contest - but it’s good to know how much you could be spending.

Reusable cup scheme

On TripAdvisor, a visitor in 2024 said they paid €8.50 (£7.36) for a bottle of iced tea and €3 (£2.60) for a ‘plastic cup’, seemingly referring to the hall’s reusable cup scheme.

"I asked for a bottle of iced tea," they wrote.

"Instead of handing me the bottle, they 'kindly' poured it into a plastic cup. I paid €8.50 and from the receipt I saw that I paid €3.00 for the plastic cup."

As per house rules, anyone who orders a drink will have to fork out for a plastic cup.

If you bring your cup back to the bar at the end of the event then you will be fully refunded.

You can use the cup for water at the free drinking station in the foyer, as per reports.

Food available at the Eurovision Song Contest

The venue prohibits event attendees and music fans from bringing food and beverages onto the event grounds, as per a notice.

Instead, food will be available to purchase inside, according to the Wiener Stadthalle website.

The venue frequently collaborates with catering partner Gourmet Event to offer guests hot dogs, käsekrainer - a type of lightly smoked Brühwurst, classic rolls, jour pastries and smoothies.

Vegan food was available at Billie Eilish’s 2025 concert, including sandwiches, vegan 'Leberkäse', popcorn, and ice cream, as per a notice.

It’s expected that some plant-based alternatives will be available for purchase during the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest.

FOODbible has contacted Wiener Stadthalle for more information on what food will be available during the Eurovision Song Contest.

Food prices

According to the Wiener Stadthalle concert pre-order system, there are four snacks available to purchase.

These include Bavarian-style soft and cheese pretzels from €5.50 (£4.77), hazelnut cream-filled wafers for €3.20 (£2.77) and Auer Tortenecken wafer triangles for the same price.

A Redditor claimed to have spent €4.50 (£3.90) on a tub of medium popcorn, too.

VIP lounge food

A local news source has reported that Impacts Catering will cater for around 7,000 VIP guests and artists, putting emphasis entirely on Austrian quality.

Regional ingredients and organic produce from Sonnberg Biofleisch, Öfferl, or SONNENTOR will be spotlighted alongside sustainability, the publication wrote, with Austrian fish as the centre piece.

Classic items such as boiled beef or game dishes may be offered alongside appetisers like pike-perch ceviche and vegan golden beet.

Char with barley ragout, May buck with pretzel dumplings, and asparagus with hollandaise sauce have been touted as main courses, while fans are likely to eat strawberry dumplings and mousse made from Manner chocolate for pudding.

The outlet reported that cheese sausages and caraway roast pork rolls may also make an apperance.
